Winter Survey

When I first discovered Kings Park, I remember thinking… What a value! What a location! What a unit!

What a gem! I’ve lived in Broward County my whole life and never knew this was back here.

This is a great inexpensive snowbird retreat!

My husband’s parents moved here in the early 1970’s. On our first anniversary – we came for a vacation. My thought was, “so this is where my husband has been going.” Our family now knows this is where Carl goes for the winter.

Wow! What an oasis right off the highway. The perfect blend of city and country. The grounds are so serene and peaceful. What a lovely place this would be to live – a true respite from the hectic trappings of the city. Absolutely beautiful!

Hmmm…I don’t know about this place. But once I walked through my condo, seeing my beautiful pool view, the lovely courtyards, trees, tranquility… I immediately put in an offer.

Great place within short distance to all the needed stores.

Perfect property for my investment portfolio. Great location. Easy to rent.

What a wonderful little complex. Boy, does it need a facelift! The red shingle roof is very dated.

Lovely. Garden. Apartment.

Mary’s Tree Memorialized

Mary’s Tree was planted in the Summer of 2019 to honor her lifetime of service to our community. In addition to serving as Board President, she managed the post fire construction of Building B, saving our community an estimated $375 thousand dollars in staffing costs. Next, she lobbied our insurance company to get the full $5,000,000 required for the rebuild. The tree, called a Milky Way Tree is growing beautifully on the north side of the pool. A plaque to memorialize the planting now hangs in our Community Room. Note: The flower shown on the plaque is actually incorrect and Mary finds this very funny... so we’re not going to fix it!

Zoom is for Losers By Frank Cunningham III

I am not a happy camper. These Zoom thingies are fine for a couple of people at best. You start putting 6-7-8 or more faces on the screen and nothing gets done. Zoom is okay for small meetings, not like our annual meeting!

Besides, there is no excu-se not to have the Annual Meeting in the B-building breezeway - like we did in the Fall. If congress can sit next to one another with a mask on, then so can we!

And I do not have a camera in my monitor or the know-how to participate. The VA tried this Telemed thing - with the urologist of all people - but now I go to the doctor’s physical office and see whoever is available.

Since you are moving this forward - where is the board Zoom headquarters going to be? Where will y’all set up the main Zoom local? I want to be front and center decked out in my useless mask, of course. This Zoom thingy is just a way to curtail the meeting and prevent people from having their say.

Concrete Restoration has begun!

A special thank you to residents who submitted their best photos of the on-going construction project. Our favorite photos are shown above. Right: Building C third floor catwalk, facing south – a rebar test site is filled with wet concrete.

The Condo CurmudgeonNoise Polluters and Their EnablersThe Condo Curmudgeon is saddened by the amount of noise polluters there are in the complex. Those who mindlessly emit through their lips the utter chatter that results in the destruction of peace and quiet. Sure, other noise polluters disturb him, too -- cars, airplanes, trains, and the yap of emotional support animals -- but there is nothing quite so obnoxious to his ears as the insistent blather that pours fourth out of the mouths of many bored, self-important, or educated Homo sapiens. Entire markets have risen to assist these noise addicts with their defects of character and to line the pockets of such spurious enablers: 24-hour news stations, boom boxes, Bluetooth enabled speakers, and church choirs.

Akin, of course, to the noise polluter is the person who is addicted to noise. The one who requires some kind of noise to fill her or his life with meaning; or to distract her or himself from the horrific notion of being alone with her or his thoughts. Nothing is more threatening to such scaredy-cat humans as the distinct sound of deafening peace and quiet.

One step below noise polluters and addicts, on the annoyance scale, are the gossipers who bring this all together. Like some odious ethereal glue that links the ears of the polluters to the mouths of the addicts, gossip fills the tiny spaces between the two with petty innuendo, hypocritical hyperbole, and malicious malfeasance -- resulting in the soiling of reality with all kinds of exaggeration, falsehoods, white lies, and fake views.

In addition to marring human’s physiological health, unnecessary blathering has been associated with a variety of health conditions, including cardiovascular disorders, hypertension, high stress levels, tinnitus, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and possibly even faster cognitive decline.

These facts alone leave the curmudgeon convinced that his love of silence and the sounds of nature, unblemished by the banter of well-meaning neighbors, is reason enough to beg everybody to keep your socialization to a reasonable decibel level!

The Condo Curmudgeon would be ever so grateful and might even offer you his hand in quiet friendship.
