Class limit: 10| Cost: $280 Baking with Ms. Emily Palmer (SK to Grade 6) - 4:10-5:10 p.m. Baking is a science and an art but most of all, it is a delicious hobby! In this course, we will be learning the basics of baking by making some delicious classics such as brownies and cookies, but the class will challenge the kids as well as the taste buds with some more unusual deserts, such as Swiss Roll Cakes. In each class we try what we have baked and we discuss the bake, the ingredients, and what went well or could be improved on if they were to make it again. After the class, the students tell what they have an interest in baking in the next lesson, and I choose from their suggestions. Every month, there will be one class dedicated to a 'Make it Yourselves' lesson in which I provide the ingredients and the recipe and allow the students to make the dessert themselves. Students love these days as they get to figure out the recipe for themselves, and designate a mixer, measurer, director or cleaner. This is a great class for any student with an interest in baking or simply eating! Instructor: Ms. Emily Palmer. This fourteen-session course takes place from 4:10-5:10 p.m. in the Room 608 on the following Monday dates: January 14, 28, February 4, 11, 25, March 11, April 1, 8, 15, 29, May 6, 13, 20, June 3. During this class, you will learn basic crochet stitches by making a purse allowing you to learn how to crotchet on the straight. With these three basic stitches, any crocheter can quickly learn more difficult stitches and patterns. We will be learning how to create the basic chain, and then how to build on that through single crotchet, double and then triple. Each stitch builds on the knowledge of the last. This class will also work on reading patterns, and recognizing the different abbreviations used by crocheters around the world. At the end of the course, not only will students have a bag in which to carry their crochet projects, they will have the ability to follow patterns and continue to produce wonderful creations in the future!
