SKIING It’s either sportive or recreational
activity using skis for sliding over snow.
Skis are used with special boots connected to them with a binding.
There are two different types of skiing: downhill skiing and cross country skiing.
DOWNHILL SKIING•There are twelve ski centres stretched out across the corner of the Alps that extends into Slovenia.
•Even if there is not enough of snow, they make it with special machines.
Every year women compete on this run for the ZLATA LISICA.
It's taken place every year in Pohorje since 1964.
A few times, the competition was also in Kranjska Gora and once in Sarajevo.

SKI JUMPING It’s a winter sport performed on snow
where skiers go down a take-off ramp, jump forward and land as far as possible down the hill below.
Judges give points both for length of the jump and for the jump style.
PLANICA Planica is an alpine valley in northwestern
Slovenia Planica is famous for ski jumping. The first
ski jumping hill was constructed before 1930
Planica was the biggest jumping hill in the world, sometimes called the mother of all jumping hills.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING Cross-country skiing is a winter
sport in which competitors run on the snow using skis and poles.
It is popular in many places with large snowfields, primarily Northern Europe, Canada and Alaska.
PETRA MAJDIČ is a Slovenian former
cross-country skier She won 24 world cup
races, 20 in sprint races, but she also won a marathon in 2009
Majdič is the second-most successful sprinter in FIS Cross-Country World Cup history
On 11 January 2011, she was proclaimed the Slovenian Woman of the Year for 2010.
