The Saint Vincent de Paul Society meets each Monday in the Social Hall at St. Patrick’s Church. Our mission is serving the poor. Prospective volunteers are en-couraged to attend several meetings to determine if the Lord is calling you to work with us. Training will be provided to those who are called according to Mat-thew 25:40 and, most recently, Saint Teresa of Cal-cutta in her five words, “You did it to me.” For infor-mation, please contact Betty Lynn Brown (352.378.3583).

We have begun youth programs at two area Catholic schools. The programs focus on spirituality, friend-ship, community, and service to the poor. Service hours are given to volunteers. Please join us.

FUNDRAISING FOR BURKINA FASO WITH FAIR TRADE AND BAKE SALE

Please consider fair trade gifts for the holidays. Pro-ceeds from all fair trade sales go to fund Stop Hunger Now--providing 20,000 meals to the hungry in Burki-na Faso in 2017. This is our parish's third meal pack-aging program, and our goal has doubled this year. See our catalogue online (link at catholicgators.org) or at the church office. Please do not place your order online - orders should be given to the office with the payment. Please make checks payable to St. Augustine - write fair trade in the memo line. No sales tax is collected. Group orders over $300 ship for free. Ques-tions? Email [email protected] In addition, we are having a bake sale fundraiser on December 11 after the 9 am and 11:30 am Masses out-side the church.

PLEASE SUPPORT GRACE MARKETPLACE

What is God’s will for us? 1 John 4:19 tells us: “We love Him because He first loved us.”

We love Him when we share the abundant gifts He continues to give us with those in need.

Your monthly donation of $10 feeds as many as 20 homeless people at GRACE Marketplace.

Place your donations in the offertory basket with Grace Marketplace on the memo line or donate

online or through eGiving. Our homeless community is counting on you.

STEWARDSHIP SPOTLIGHT - OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE

This weekend is allegedly the final week of our annual stewardship renewal. I say “allegedly” because if you think that by hibernating through these four weeks, you’re in the clear, as Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast,

my friend.”

Last weekend we heard from the priests at mass after communion, and stewardship commitment bro-chures were distributed. Everyone 18 years or older - student, working, retired, not working - should have got-ten one to look over, pray over, and act on. If you were out of town or didn’t get one, there are some on the ta-bles by the doors. Alternatively, especially if you’re reading this at home and not during mass, you can access the brochure online at catholicgators.org/stewardship. Furthermore, you can complete and submit the commit-ment card online on the same page. These online materials will be available permanently. So, if you missed out on completing your renewal commitment last week, it literally is never too late.

Everyone should be able to commit time to God. The brochure has several suggested ways to do this. Even if you’re just committing time, why should you turn in a brochure? First, it is an opportunity to register with the parish. We want and need to know and connect with our faith community. This includes students. Furthermore, I believe that making a spiritual commitment will have more significance to us if we share it with the faith community. Don’t get me wrong; we’re not going to publish your commitment. Telling myself that I’m going to read the Bible every day carries a lot less weight to me than making a commitment through my faith community. We have a multitude of talent sharing opportunities. Checking off those that interest you will get you in touch with the relevant coordinators. If you check off choir and then decide that this is not a good time to follow through, that’s OK. It’s just a point of initial contact, so be bold in committing your talents. Please prayer-fully consider your commitment of treasure. No contribution is too small to submit. Making a pledge and fol-lowing through with it is an act of faith in God’s providence. Please consider giving online at catholicgators.org/make-a-donation. There is no minimum contribution.

Today we celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King. Do we think of Jesus as our Lord, to whom we owe everything? Do our actions in terms of stewardship of our resources of time, talent, and treasure reflect this?

November 20– Christ the King

Today as we celebrate Christ the King, may we open the door of our heart so wide that we may listen to the voice of Jesus calling us to help build his kingdom here on

earth. Last month, through your generous gifts and dona-tions, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to visit and assist families in our community by providing food and help with GRU and rent bills. Thank You and God Bless! For assistance or to make a donation, please call 352-222-0588.
