Winter bag Size: (small) large

Yarn: Sandes garn, Smart: colour 1 gray, colour 2 red, about 250

 grams

Needles: 3½ and 4½ mm

Pattern B:  Put 5 stitches on a cable needle in front of the work, knit the

first stitch from the cable needle together with the first stitch on

the needle. Repeat 5 times. 5 stitches are increased.

Pattern C:  Put 5 stitches on a cable needle behind the work, knit the first

stitch from the cable needle together with the first stitch on the

needle. Repeat 5 times. 5 stitches are increased.

Doubble-sided knitting:   Always keep the yarn in the same order until the end of the row, every other stitch knitted (the front of the work), every other side purled (back of the work) while following the pattern.

Before a knitted stitch keep both yarns behind the work, and before a purled stitch keep both

yarns in front of the work. This way the yarns will be intertwined and you will have mirror

images on both sides of the work. Also twist the yarns at the end of each row.

Cast on (82) 124 stitches and knit garter stitch in the round 4 rows with colour 1 using the smaller needles.

On row 5 increase (14) 20 stitches evenly (= (96) 144 s), and knit according to pattern A with the bigger size

needles.

Large bag: The 24 stitches are repeated 6 times, knit row 1-50.

Small bag: The 24 stitches are repeated 4 times, knit row 1-7, 27-50

Continue knitting in colour 2 and switch to the thinner needle. Add the creases: (Small bag: *Knit pattern B,

knit 31, knit pattern C* 2 times.) Large bag: *Knit pattern B, K2, pattern B, K28, knit pattern C, K2, knit

pattern C* 2 times. You now have (72) 104 stitches. Knit moss stitch 8 rows. Add buttonholes: Knit (15) 23

stitches in mosstitch, knit 3 together, Yarn over, lift 2 stitches, knit 1, lift the 2 stitches over the knitted stitch,

continue knitting in moss stitch. Next row, knit 4 stitches into the yarn over.

Knit 3 more rows of moss stitch, and then add the handles:

Large bag: (2 handles) Knit 7 stitches moss stitch, cast off the following stitches and knit the last 7 stitches

moss stitch (= only 14 stitches left in the work). Leave the first 7 stitches to wait on a safety pin to wait while

working with the 7 stitches that has begun each row.

Small bag: (1 handle) Knit 4 stitches moss stitch, cast of the following stitches and knit the 3 last stitches in

moss stitch as well (= 7 stitches left). Knit the 4 first stitches in moss stitch again so you are at the end of

your row.

Begin knitting your handle as follows (from the right side = the outside of the purse)

Row 1: (RS) *K1, increase 1* 7 times = 14 stitches

Row 2: (WS) *K1 colour 1, P1 colour 2* 7 times using the technique for double sided knitting (se above) NB!

Pay attention to where you have your yarn – in front of or behind your work!

Continue knitting according to pattern D, line 1-6, using the technique for double sided knitting. Knit

approximately 60 cm or according to taste. End with row 1. Cast off stitches and sow the other side of the

handle to the purse. For the large purse – knit the other handle the same way.

Sew the bottom of the bag together, and add a lining to the bag to make it more sustainable.
