When skies grow dark and winds grow calm,

When snowflakes settle on my palm,

When dustbins wear a snow-white hat,

When snowballs fly and soar and splat,

When tiny puddles turn to glass,

When frost leaves diamonds on the grass,

When fingers, toes and nose are numb,

I thank the Lord that winter’s come.
