If you’re not the drawing type, you can still create awesome anime- themed projects like posters, buttons, keychains, and more. Interested in laser engraving? Wacom digital illustration tablets? We’ve got those, too! Visionary Art in Photoshop Thursdays, Jan. 3–March 7 (10 classes) Teaching Artist: Jill Wiggins Open to: All Experience Levels Visionary art—also called outsider art—is created by self- taught individuals who feel the need to make art. They often don’t even see themselves as artists. In this class, we will study visionary art and use Photoshop to create artwork inspired by these individuals. Learn all the basics of Photoshop plus some advanced techniques. If you like you can work with the Wacom Tablet to add your own brush strokes. Beginners are welcome! Charmed by Clay Mondays, Jan. 7–March 4 (8 classes*) *No class Jan. 21, Jan. 28 Teaching Artist: Talon Smith Open to: All Experience Levels Let’s think about clay differently by using it to create one- of-a-kind jewelry. You will have the opportunity to create functional fashion or wild wearables by using various types of clay bodies, glazes, and other materials. Because we will be working so small, we will produce a lot of work in this class. Slapped up Slabs Tuesdays, Jan. 8–March 5 (9 classes*) *No class Jan. 29 Teaching Artist: Bryce Hemington Open to: All Experience Levels Want to get into clay but don’t want to be bogged down in the potter’s wheel? We are going to be getting into the finer points of hand-building using the slab roller to make closed form jars, platters, and more in this class. Work with sheets of clay and custom templates to build objects that will surprise and delight. Pots for Purpose Wednesdays, Jan. 2–March 6 (10 classes) Teaching Artist: Talon Smith Open to: All Experience Levels One in eight Allegheny County residents face hunger. Empty Bowls was created to help. Local artists—such as yourself—produce and donate bowls. At the annual Empty Bowls event, soup is served in these bowls, and the guests get to take one home. Are you always doodling and want to learn a process to easily reproduce your work? Come learn how to screen print like the pros, using the same equipment professional shops use. This class will teach you everything you need to know about screen printing shirts, posters, and multi-colored prints. Spotting U.F.O.’s: Underappreciated Found Objects Thursdays, Jan. 3–March 7 (10 classes) Teaching Artist: Ben Pyles Open to: All Experience Levels Turn trash into treasure with us in the Design Studio! In this class we will be going out to thrift stores to find paintings, magazines, and other items in order to create brand new mixed-media work! Draw funny faces on cowboys, add more arms to stuffed animals, or collage a masterpiece from old magazines. Your options are only limited to what you can dig up! So come thrifting with us, and see how much cool stuff you can make from other people’s junk. You’ll learn lighting, composition, and editing by using digital SLR cameras, external flash, studio, and Photoshop. Not only will we photograph but we’ll create art pieces by printing your images. Enrollment is December 12 & 13After School @ Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild

Courses are offered at no cost to PPS students. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.

After-school course enrollment is on December 12 and 13, 2018 from 3:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.

There will be a yellow school bus at most PPS high schools going to MCG.

Public transit tickets will be provided to get home.

Pizza will be served on both days!
