Since the Alberta Association of the Deaf agreed to pass the torch to ACSD in 2015, we’ve had many great opportunities for the public to see our beautiful ASL through the Deaf signers singing the

national anthem to start off the Edmonton Eskimos home games. This is a perfect place for everyone to see it. I want to thank

Shauna Durston for arranging the anthem signers and interpreters for each home game.

ACSD profoundly appreciated Anita Mazzuca, Victoria Meusel,

Bonny Millkien, Shauna Durston, Brenda Hillcox, and Gwendolyn Lathe for their outstanding jobs.

ACSD also wants to express deep gratitude to Helen McLeod,

Carla Dupras, Jenni Stevens, Megan Richelhoff, Laura Patterson and Diane De Andrade who volunteered to interpret.

We will have this opportunity again next year

at the Edmonton Eskimos games.

Alberta Cultural Society of the Deaf has been granted a casino fundraiser by Alberta Gaming Licensing Commission (AGLC) and we require volunteers to work a shift this year 2017. This is a very important fundraiser which provides critical funding to enhance Alberta Cultural of the Deaf projects and services. Your support is an essential for the success of this fundraiser and many volunteers are required to make it happen. The casino will be held on May 27 & 28, 2017 at the Casino Yellowhead located in West-end. We are required to fill the position of General Managers, Bankers, Cashiers, Count Room Supervisor, Count Room Staff, and Chip Runners. These keys positions must be filled by volunteers. Signing up for one shift (or two) will make a difference in Alberta Cultural Society of the Deaf’s projects for years to come. There are many shifts to choose from, so please be generous with your time and let us know your availability. Over the two-day period we are required to fill over 40 positions to qualify for this casino. Thank you for your willingness to work as a team… It may be even fun! Thank you for responding to this invitation to join our fundraiser. Please send an email to [email protected] indicating whether you would be available for a day shift or night shift. If you have a preference of a position you would like to fill, please indicate this also. Closer to the event, you will receive a follow-up email with important additional details related to your volunteer positions. Thank you, again, for your fantastic show of support. Sincerely, Brenda Hillcox ACSD Casino Chairperson
