Staff
Dear Friends and Neighbors:
As your Director of Parks andRecreation, one of the most excitingparts of my job is growing our parksystem. This past year, the Board ofCounty Supervisors again recognizedthe importance that public parks andrecreation play in the quality of life ofour community. By providing addi-tional funding for sports fields, trailsand additional park amenities throughthe 2013 Budget Process, your parksystem is more capable than everbefore in providing you with a highquality park system that includesmany recreation alternatives.
Our Trail system now accommodatesmore visitors than ever before. Withthe addition of 5 trail bridges atAndrew Leitch Park in Dale City andtwo bridges and trail surface improve-ments at Bull Run, park staff andmany volunteers have made it possi-ble for you to enjoy outdoor recre-ation in Prince William County asnever before.
We will continue to add to our parksystem in the near future so that parkvisitation (which we measure in mil-lions of park visits per year) keepsgrowing as the population in PrinceWilliam County grows. Parks make allof our lives better, and by providingaccess to the outdoors, nature caninspire all of us to lifelong fitness, good health and joy.
I encourage you and your family –especially our youth – to visit ourparks often. Prince William Countyhas been recognized for the third yearin a row as one of the best communi-ties in the U.S. for youth. This is part-ly due to our commitment to parksand recreation, and the healthylifestyle that comes with positive alter-natives for youth recreation in ourcommunity.
See you outdoors this winter!
