Winspect is able to retrofit scanners from Krautkramer, Panametrics, ABB/Amdata, Matec, Midus, Sonix, SAIC Ultra Image, McDonnell Douglas, Sierra Matrix, Testech, CalData, TestPro and JB Engineering. Most retrofits can be installed in several days.

Winspect makes it easy to configure multi-channel systems and scanners that use more than one NDE technique. For instance, Winspect can collect ultrasonic and eddy current data simultaneously and store both types of data into one data file.

Many system integrators are available worldwide to build or retrofit machines to use Winspect. Having options is what our business philosophy is all about. If any integrator should ever go out of business, there are other very capable integrators that can continue to support you. Please check our website for details.

Ultrasonic and eddy current inspection systems are built using off-the-shelf instruments and controllers. This ensures a solution should obsolete components fail or need to be upgraded.

Winspect – a powerful core

Winspect is a very popular software package used for building inspection and material characterization systems. It is as comfortable doing research in the laboratory as it is on the factory floor inspecting parts.

Its popularity comes from its well-crafted balance between power, flexibility and simplicity. Many organizations have standardized on Winspect because it always ends up making them more productive regardless of what they do with it.

Winspect is also a community of end users, system integrators and software developers. The community offers stability over the years because when you choose Winspect, you are never stuck with one system vendor. Winspect offers you choices and reduces your operational risks.

Buying a complex NDE system from a monolithic "we do it all" vendor doesn't necessarily get you the best components needed to create an ideal system. The problem with monolithic vendors is that they will only sell you what they offer.

Winspect is a new way of doing business. We offer alternatives so that your system is built from the best that technology has to offer. Typically, the best machine builder for your application will use Winspect as a core, adding the best instrumentation for the job.

Compare this approach to buying an inspection system from a flaw detector or transducer manufacturer. Worldwide, our system integrator network has almost unlimited capacity to serve your needs whereas equipment vendors do not.

Release 6.0 offers a suite of signal and image processors that users can cascade together to form more complex processors. No programming is required, and if needed, users can write their own formulas. The processors are fast enough to work in real-time while scanning. This makes them ideal for noise reduction, advanced feature extraction and for reducing the amount of data collected.

Winspect 6.0 has an updated user interface with strip charts, alarms and annotations that calculate statistics automatically. System builders can now easily specify simple machine interfaces that are easy for operators to understand and use.

Live processing

All scanning types are supported

Powerful analysis tools

Winspect not only collects amplitude and time of flight data, but can calculate any material property live while scanning. Winspect's processors can be used to reduce noise, increase resolution or directly calculate properties such as porosity and bond line strength.

Without the need for programming, Winspect lets you create more advanced processors by simply linking basic processors together. You can even use external processors such as MATLAB in your processing sequences.

Winspect's processors are fast enough to work equally well on live A-scan data, live gated data or as a post-processing engine on saved data.

Winspect supports XY, turntable and contour following scanning as well as lesser-known R-theta (pivot arm) and radius-radius scanning using dual wire encoders or ultrasonic distance locators.

Winspect supports motorized scanning, manual scanning or scanning without hardware on a grid of points.

Winspect offers the industry's most powerful color palette that can be rotated for flaw visualization, converted into dB or calibrated to display any engineering unit. The number of color levels is fully selectable.

For training and testing purposes, Winspect provides full simulation of A-scan signals, eddy current signals, motors and encoders. In fact, you can fully verify your inspection before you ever connect any instrumentation or motion hardware.

Winspect's C-scan viewer provides advanced features such as polar and dB views and can export data to other programs via a graphics file or ASCII text file. You can annotate images with text, points, lines, rectangles, circles and polygons. Winspect can also calculate the statistics inside these shapes and annotate the image automatically.

Familiar user interface

Standardizes everything

Winspect allows you to reconfigure your system in seconds using powerful workspaces that store everything. Workspaces recall settings for instruments, gates, motion control, scans, windows and color palettes. You can fully recreate an inspection simply by recalling the workspace that was used to perform the scan. Once loaded, just hit Go to re-inspect the part.

Workspaces also allow you to store your procedures online. Winspect can display operator instructions that can include text, image, sound and video content. The inspect ion configurations and procedures are stored together in the same workspace file.

Winspect uses a standardized look and feel for all A-scan instruments, eddy current instruments and motion control components, regardless of who the manufacturer is. This consistent interface allows you to change equipment vendors without having to retrain your staff.

The Winspect user interface is k n o w n b y t h o u s a n d s o f inspectors and researchers worldwide. This makes it possible to locate trained staff when you need them or to share data and experiences between organizations.

It doesn't matter how many different scanners you may have at your facility, Winspect can run them all and make them operate identically. This standardization can dramatically reduce your training and operating costs.

It's also possible to specify a custom interface that makes your machine even easier to use. Winspect runs fully hidden, showing only the controls and displays required for your inspection. Contact UTEX to receive an engineering estimate for such an interface.
