http://jets.nhl.com/v2/ext/files/1213-Winnipeg-Jets-Media-Guide.pdf GAME PREVIEWFollowing a 1-0 win in Ottawa on Saturday, the Winnipeg Jets (5-5-1) now enter a matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers (5-7-1) –a teamthat they combined with for several high-scoring contests last season. In head-to-head games in 2011-12, the two clubs combined for39 goals in only four games, including a 9-8 Jets win in the first meeting on Oct. 27/11. The Jets held a 3-0-1 mark in the season serieslast year and were 1-0-1 on home ice versus the Flyers. Currently, the Jets are 2-1-0 in their last three games –each decided by onegoal.  TEAM NOTESOne and backThe Jets returned to Winnipeg after a one-game road trip to Ottawa on Saturday (1-0 W). Winnipeg went on four different one-gametrips last season and won in their first home game back each time: Nov. 14/11 vs. TB (5-2 W), Dec. 13/11 vs. MIN (2-1 W), Dec. 29/11vs. LAK (1-0 OTW), Feb. 17/12 vs. BOS (4-2 W).  Hosting back-to-backsThe Philadelphia Flyers will travel to Winnipeg via Toronto this week playing back-to-back games against the Maple Leafs and Jets.Tuesday night will be one of two games the Jets host this season when their opponent played in another city the day before (Next: Mar.24 vs. TB). The Jets played far more games in this scenario last season, when they went 9-2-1 at home versus an opponent that playedon the road the day before. The Jets have played their own back-to-back on the road twice already this season, winning the second halfof one in Washington on Jan. 22 (4-2 W) and losing to Tampa Bay on Feb. 1 (3-8 L). Points from the pointThe Winnipeg Jets boast the most points scored by defencemen in the NHL this season with a total of 34 points.Toby Enstrom (13points), Dustin Byfuglien (7 points) Paul Postma (5 points), Ron Hainsey (3 points), Zach Redmond (3 points), Grant Clitsome (2points), and Mark Stuart (1 point) round out the scoring for Jets defencemen. Winnipeg is also tied with Ottawa for first in the League ingoals by defencemen with nine. Leading goal and point totals by defencemen in the NHL:

Following a shutoutThe Jets shut out their opponents six times in 2011-12. In games following a shutout win, the Jets had a record of 3-2-1. Winnipeg hada goals-against average of 2.83 in those games. Prior to Saturday, the Jets’ last shutout occurred on Mar. 1/12 versus Florida (7-0 W).In their next game the Jets topped the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 on Mar. 5/12. Mirroring their shutout win on Saturday, the last time the Jetsrecorded a shutout on the road was also in - Ottawa on Jan. 16/12 (20 W). PLAYER NOTESMontoya’s early impressionsJets goaltender Al Montoya got his second start of the season on Saturday and registered his first shutout with Winnipeg stopping 33shots as the Jets prevailed 1-0 over the Ottawa Senators. The Jets’ netminder is now 2-0-0 this season, with a 2.68 goals-againstaverage and a save percentage of .899. No stranger to making an early impression, Montoya recorded a shutout in his first NHL startas a member of the Phoenix Coyotes on Apr. 1/09. Leading all DToby Enstrom is now tied for the lead among NHL defencemen in points (13) and is second in assists (11), competing with St. Louis’Kevin Shattenkirk in both categories. Enstrom is the only d-man to register two separate three-point performances this season. Thereare only six other d-men to register one three-point game in 2012-13, one of them is the Jets’ Paul Postma.

Poni was the differenceAlexei Ponikarovsky broke a 0-0 tie at 5:57 of the third period on Saturday as the Jets topped the Ottawa Senators 1-0. The goal wasPonikarovsky’s second of the season. Both of his goals this year have been assisted by Kyle Wellwood. With the goal on Saturday,Ponikarvsky now has 18 career game-winning goals, including two in the playoffs. Both of his playoff overtime goals have come againstthe Philadelphia Flyers. Leaning on RonRon Hainsey led the Jets in ice time for the second game in a row logging 29:32 on Saturday in Ottawa (1-0 W). Saturday wasHainsey’s fourth-highest total for ice time in his career. His career-high was 30:19 played on Apr. 3/10 with the Thrashers in Pittsburgh(3-4 OTL). He currently ranks third on the Jets with an average ice time of 24:27. In 2011-12, the 31-year-old blue liner led the Jets inice time on five occasions. Hainsey is tied for the team lead with rookie Zach Redmond for the team lead in plus/minus at +1. Buff’s early season paceDustin Byfuglien’s heavy shot made an impact early this season with three goals in the first six games, all scored on the power playand at home. Byfuglien hasn’t played since Jan. 29 in Montreal (3-4 L) missing the last five games with an injury. Despite that absence,Byfuglien’s three power play goals still leads the Jets and he remains one of two players on the team (other is Toby Enstrom) toaverage more than one point-per-game. The 27-year-old has seven points (3G, 4A) in six games. Toby’s efficient outputToby Enstrom’s two goals were scored on eight shots giving him a shooting percentage of 25.0%. Enstrom is currently the only playerin the NHL to lead his team in points despite averaging less than a shot on goal per game:

the league with 207 hits. Schenn has also blocked 30 shots, which is second on the Flyers and 9th in the league; he is the leagueleader when adding those two inherently-defensive categories at 78, just ahead of Ladislav Smid of Edmonton at 72 (40 hits, 32 blocks)but at least 20 ahead of everyone else.  As a team, the Flyers rank 3rd among NHL teams with 199 blocks on the season and are second in the league with 344 hits. Everyskater on the Flyers roster had at least one hit in yesterday’s game in Toronto. Claude Giroux has been 50 percent or better on faceoffs in 10 of the Flyers’ 13 games this season, including the last six in a row after he was11 for 17 (64.7 percent) yesterday in Toronto. He is 63.6 percent (98 for 154) in the last six games. Giroux has taken 313faceoffs this season, which leads the league, and has a 57.2 faceoff percentage (179 wins, 134 losses), which is fifth-best in the leagueamong players who have taken more than 200 faceoffs and third-best among those who have taken 220 or more. He has taken 38.4percent of the Flyers’ faceoffs, which also leads the league in that category. The Flyers are 2-for-33 on the power play (6 percent) in their seven regulation losses this season and are 7-for-22 on the power play(31.8 percent) in the six games in which they’ve earned points (5 wins, 1 SOL). After a rocky start to the season, the Flyers have killed 25 of their last 27 shorthanded situations over the past five games (92.6percent). The PK unit was operating at 67.7 percent (21 for 31) after the first seven games of the season.  The Flyers continue to lead the league in minor penalties with 75 total –72 minors and three bench minors. They have beenshorthanded 58 times this season, which ties for second most in the league.
