Longest Running One-Iron Charolais Bull Sale in Manitoba

Welcome to our 14th bull sale! We would like to takethis time to congratulate all of our past bull customers on bringing homerecord breaking calf cheques over the past few months. We all deserve itand hopefully it stays for a while. It is with mixed emotions that I write these footnotes. As many of you al-ready know and for those that don’t, this will be our final bull sale. Weare definitely not leaving the cattle business but completely opposite. Withour commercial cowherd increasing year after year and the opportunity foreven more expansion, we feel we just don’t have enough time to run ourpurebred operation in the future as it is quite time consuming. With youngfamilies and growing kids in the mix we want to be able to be able to enjoya little recreation time with them and not devote it all to a bull sale. Ourcow numbers will not decrease but rather increase, in a more relaxing, en-joyable and less time consuming manner. Our registered cows have all beenbred to red British bulls and will remain on the ranch(except for our choicelot of one cow in this sale). We are looking forward to marketing their pow-erful buckskin steers and heifers next year. We would like to thank eachand every bull buyer from the last 25 years. We’ve shared some good times,bad times, lots of laughs and they will make for some great stories for thegrandkids. Most of all we’ve made some great friendships that will last alifetime! Thanks.This years bulls are again ranch raised. Their mothers are calved out along-side our commercials on grass in 100 acre calving fields. This year we'll calveover 800 cows in the real world with no hired men so they have to workor nature culls them. Calving ease, vigor and udder type are a must as theydon't get any TLC. They are weaned in late November, put on grass inApril/May and brought in in late November to get ready for the sale.A lot of producers don't seem to want to explain how their bulls are devel-oped. I think most of you cattlemen would be shocked at some develop-ment and feed programs. Its something all good cattlemen should research. Here's the need to know about our program in plain “cattleman's commonsense” that you don't need a dictionary to understand.-WE DON'T CREEP FEED so our weights are real just like when youtake your calves to town.-Our bulls are developed gently like breeding cattle (not feedlot cattle) Youwon't find self-feeders of barley here, just silage based TMR's. We find thatbulls last longer when they aren't torqued.-They have been vaccinated twice for type 1 & 2 IBR/BVD with the Mod-ified Live Vaccine Pyramid FP5. They have had 2 Blackleg andHaemophilus vaccinations and have been treated with Ivomec several times.-Their mothers have also been vaccinated with Pyramid FP5 and everythingon the ranch is on a full mineral program.-All bulls are registered with the Canadian Charolais Association and areage verified. Please come early and be our guests for a complimentary roast beef lunchand refreshments at noon. Winn Mans Lanza has made an impact on the Charolais breed like no other. Marquezwas retained from our first Lanza calf crop to continue on with his legacy. He hasbeen used on our heifers for several years and we wouldn't be scared to put himagainst any Angus for calving ease and “get up n go.” He puts a ton of “feedlot” hairon his calves and they can compete with the rest for performance. His mother isone of our best and is part of our biggest cow families.

Ontop has really exceeded our expectations. His offspring are born easy, are verysound and have a ton of natural muscle that this breed is really lacking. Just as his name states, he is STOUT! After Ontop and ALI Trade did such a great jobhere, we added another Trademark son to our battery. Stout was our pick of over500 bulls at a sale in Montana and has he ever bred like a champ! He is built like atank and so are his sons. Opportunities like this very seldom come along so when they do,

you better participate. Lanza has made an impact on the Charolais

breed like no other. not only have his sons dominated bull sales

across Canada but they have gone on to do a tremendous job in a

lot of purebred and commercial herds. The real kicker, THey

HAVe WOrKed! i’ve never seen a bull stamp his offspring with

calving ease, big performance and HAir, like Lanza does. He has

been kept very exclusive in the breed and this opportunity may never

come along again.

Selling are 2 semen lots. Lot A and B. They each consist of 40 straws

of semen. Lot A will sell first and the buyer will have the option of

doubling the price, sweeping the ring and taking all 80 straws. There

will be no further revenue from the bull himself. There is very lim-

ited semen left in the bank on Lanza and from now on the bull will

be solely owned by A. Sparrow Farms and Lindskov-Thiel ranch

any females for sale but have had a fair amount of interest

expressed over the past year. This is an excellent chance for

game. We’ve kept our cowherd very exclusive and have

some different pedigrees than most in these ranch raised fe-
