How the new facility will help care for patients/familiesEach year, approximately 150 families in Connecticut receive the frightening news that one of their children has been diagnosed with cancer.

CT Children’s treats these families with state-of-the-art, comprehensive care. Currently, these families see doctors on Floor 2 and Floor 8 of the Hospital. This creates longer wait times and inefficiencies in running the care for the patient. The new facility will care for all patients on Floor 5 of the Hospital.

Children and families will have twice as many patient care rooms so that waiting times to be seen will be shorter.

Privates spaces available for each family to come together without sharing challenges of chemo/radiation with others in the area.

On site technician and specialized lab will provideanalysis of blood within minutes instead of hours. Blood counts determine if patient is ready for chemo, needs a blood transfusion, must be admitted to the Hospital or may go home.
