Preserving a Tradition jack london’s sonoma

Jack London came to the Sonoma Valley in the early part of the 20th century eager to escape the

confines of city life. He found a rugged landscape with the lingering allure of the

Western frontier. Wing & Barrel Ranch seeks to preserve the history and spirt of the land and So-

noma’s early residents and farmers.

Jack London felt the raw beauty of life in Sonoma Valley, growing grapes, farming and

hunting the land with a keen respect for the birds and game giving him an appreciation

for the natural word that surrounds our land.

It is a tradition passed down to us from previous generations and Wing & Barrel Ranch

is devoted to keeping alive the memory of that way of life, allowing future generations the opportunity to experience the same appreciation.‘When I first came here, tired of cities and

people, I settled down on a little farm...130 acres of the most beautiful, primitive land to be found in California.’ Jack London

Stewards Of The Land

We can see the natural beauty of the country life in Sonoma County, growing hay and grain, grapes and hunting the land. As stewards of the land, we appreciate the rugged landscape, vine covered hillsides and the fields all of which represent the history of the land in this area. Originally an ancient American Indian path and the El Camino Real followed by the Padres as they built the California missions, our land represents many phases in the history of California land use.

We believe it is our responsibility to honor the history and spirit of Sonoma’s ranches, and in establishing the Wing & Barrel Ranch we are able to perpetuate and protect the future of over 1,000 acres of land in the heart of Sonoma County. In joining, your membership keeps alive the traditions of the sporting and hunting life on this property and ensures that many generations to come will enjoy and protect this sacred land.

a tribute Wing & Barrel Ranch honors the legacy of a 50 year-old family business,

Black Point Sports Club. While landing on the beaches of Iwo Jima in 1945, Mike Sutsos, Sr. could have never imagined how his service to the United States

of America as a Marine would sculpt the history of hunting in Northern California. Upon returning from overseas, he developed one of the most

respected hunting clubs north of the Golden Gate Bridge. An expert hunter and dog trainer, his legacy lives on as we transition from Black

Point Sports Club to the new, private Wing & Barrel Ranch.
