Eyrie were the pioneers of Oregon, their Pinot Gris from the first vineyard planted in the region (on page 27) is one of the great examples of the grape worldwide. This is subtle and delicate with pears and spice.

Burgundy It is a peculiar anomaly that while Chardonnay from the rest of the world is difficult to sell, from Burgundy (and all but one of the below is from the grape) it is hard for us to keep up with demand. The best are made in tiny quantities (and that applies across the board, not just for the expensive wines), so our policy of buying in advance helps to secure sufficient stocks.

Bordeaux Claret has always been the heart of the Rex Whistler’s cellar and while we can no longer offer Latour 1986 at £38 a half bottle (from a 2001 wine list – those were the days) now has never been a better time to be a Bordeaux lover – quality, across the board, is at an all time high. We have made particular effort to source a wide range of halves, a fine way to exercise restraint or sample a variety of Châteaux.

Unlike Bordeaux high quality Burgundy is made in tiny quantities.
