The BC Ministry of Education requires students to write the following exams for graduation requirements:

Gr. 10 & 11 Provincial Exams: Grade 10 (English, Science, Math) Grade 11 (Social Studies)

Grade 12 Provincial Exams: English or Communications 12

Provincial Exam Scholarships

A student will receive a $1000 examinations scholarship if he or she: fulfills the BC graduation requirements achieves at least a “B” (73%) final mark in English 12 or Communications 12

(provincial exam and school mark combined) ranks among the top 5000 grade 12 students in BC (based on percentage

scores) on all 5 provincial exams A student will receive a $2500 examinations scholarship if he or she:

meets all the qualifications for the Graduation Program Examinations Scholarship

ranks among the top 20 scholarship students in BC (based on percentage scores)

OPTION 1 Register in the course: WEX 12 A and 12 B 100 hours WEX plus course work 4 credits each

OPTION 2 In the summer they work in a job that is in their focus area and work 100 or more hours. Join WEX in September and do the course work. 4 credits

OPTION 3 An Independent Directed Studies (IDS), can be used to either extend the work experience credits up to a maximum of 16 credits

Secondary School Apprenticeship Program

Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA)

career program that provides students with the opportunity to begin their apprenticeship training while attending high school.

The student must be 15 years old and working in or would like to work in an app- renticable trade

How it works Must work in a trade either paid or unpaid Students will receive 4 credits towards graduation for every 120 hours

completed on the job, plus some course work, with a maximum of 16 credits or 480 hours

Upon completion, students can apply for a $1000 scholarship!! You can help……. You or someone you know might like to hire a SSA student and benefit

from a student who is eager to help build your business!

ACE-IT : Culinary Program

The program consists of: • Vegetable and Starch Cooking • Meat and Poultry Cooking • Seafood Prep • Stocks, Sauces, and Soups • Meat, Poultry, Seafood cutting • Vegetable and Starches, and Egg Cooking • Baking and Desserts

The completion deadline for DL courses used for admissions to post-secondary varies from post-secondary institution to post-secondary institution

Example: UBC requires all DL courses to be 100% complete by February 1 of a student’s grade 12 year to be included in their competitive admissions average
