I love this picture because it reminds me that I went to a Island and the volcano was very quiet silence and it exploded. I love this picture because I love it how its very silence when it explodes when it rum-bleing. Even I love the sound is very loud when it explods in the sky and I like when the lava gos down and flows down the volcano.

By Emily SaquipayButterflies lives in New York

They have wings and when was rained the wings will be wet and butterflies have colors on the wings demand they have white spot and when is sunny the wings would get wet I like the nice butterflies the wings make them fly. And when butterflies are growing first they turn into a caterpillar. And they keep grow-ing growing they will come out from the caterpillar. And they have four foots and they have eyes and they walk in the flowers and smell the flowers. And they almost look like spiders because they have the eyes yellow or red. A butterfly lays the eggs and keeps them safe. They just see them and hug them. And when they are caterpillar, the caterpillar is butterfly, but the caterpillar will climb on the trunk of the leaves. And they have antennae. They drink water with the antennae. Butterflies live in North America, South America, Australia, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Some butterflies sometimes they have the wings so soft and they have on the back of the body little soft hair and the wings some of them will be soft and one of them will be hard and they have some different colors and they can have like red spots or different colors of spots. And they come out into a cocoon.

Shapes

In this picture, I see different shapes and different colors. I see a red square and a giant circle in the middle. I like this picture because there is a cube and it reminds me of a candy that I had. Another thing I see in this picture is a triangle. My favorite color is blue and my favorite shape is the prism. I also like this picture because the people paint-ed my favorite shapes.

Page 19: Windows/Ventana

When I visited the Goethals Hall, it was fun to see the paintings and to take photos with the camera. There was also the smell of paint. This painting tells me about differ-ent shapes. I see a triangle and a square that the painter made and in the background I see brown. I want to be a painter when I grow up because I like to paint and draw things like my family, people, dogs and cats.

SECURITY GUARDS by: Leila, Vladimir, and Brandon

Our group walked around City College. We met security guards. We asked the police questions. Here are their answers. We went to all the buildings where security guards are by looking at the map. We drew pictures of things we saw inside and outside the building.

1. What’s your name? --Vladimir

The police officers names are Mr. Yussuf, Mr. Moussa, Mr. Richards, Ms. Munez, Ms. Rosado.

2. How many hours do you work everyday? --LeilaSecurity guards work for eight hours everyday.

3. Do you get to use a car? --Brandon

Two people use separate cars. The windows are square and the wheels are round. The cars say NYC Police Officers.

“Two people use separate cars. The windows are square and the wheels are round.”

4. What do you have in your belt? --VladimirOfficers have in their belt a mask, walkie-talkie, and flashlight. The officers use the mask to do mouth to mouth if people aren’t breathing.

Page 22: Windows/Ventana

5. How do police track robbers? --LeilaSecurity guards track robbers by looking at their ID and checking their last name. They take your card and say, “What’s your last name?” If they don’t answer then they are not the owner of the ID card.

6. If you were a superhero which power will you like? --LeilaMr. Richards would pick the power to fly so high in the sky and help people with his super-power.

7. If you were a superhero which superhero would you be? –LeilaMr. Richards would like to be Super Man because he could fly and shoo lasers with his eyes.

The security guards showed us all of the security cameras in the building.

Animals Animals are amazing . They are

beautiful and the most wonderful

creatures. Like water makes up

the surface on earth, so do

animals, but if animals did not

exist us humans would probably

die of starvation. That is why we

should love animals.

Page 26: Windows/Ventana

Endangered animals are everywhere like the African Savanna, and in many parts of Australia. A lot of these animals are endangered. This is because they are being over hunted and being put from their natural habitat to the zoo habitat. They could get a disease called Zoochsis. This disease contains the side effects of bobbing and twisting their head. Turning in never ending circles, and tearing holes in their skin. They even inflict on themselves. Here in new york the Association of zoos and aquariums and the species survival plan program helps endangered animals. They are doing their part by dwindling population of animals still living free in the wild. These programs combined helped saved black footed ferrets, California condors, red wolves, and other endan-gered species back from the brink of extinction over the last three decades.

These poor animals are calling for help because they are worried they are going to be extinct.

In Phoenix, Arizona there is a zoo called Phoenix zoo. This zoo has helped many animals. Such as the Arabian Oryx’s. After this zoo helped the Arabian Oryx’s there have been 293 birth and over 6000 are till living in the wild. This zoo has taken in nine different animals. I guess that the zoo can save more animals then we can count. There is a guy who visited this zoo and he said a very nice quote to them. “ They are so white that they blend into the snow.

Page 27: Windows/Ventana

This is a very nice zoo but this doesn’t compare to the other zoos that only use the animals for money and atten-tion. Some zoos don’t even care for them, they just feed the food and they don’t show them love like the Phoenix Zoo. Unlike the Phoenix Zoo the zoo habitats don’t even look like the animals natural habitat:1. The Phoenix Zoo has no props.2. All the plants they have are real.3. The habitats look like their real habitats.4. The Phoenix Zoo nurtures them until they are fully groaned.

Junior the killer whale died four years after he was moved from his natural habitat to a very small tank in a aquarium.

Art

Art is beautiful. Art is everything around

us. Without art there would be no Mona

Lisa, no Starry Night, and no Scream.

Without art there would be no cars, there

would definitely be no architecture and

no color.

Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

Here’s the recipe! Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/4 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate

chips

1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix

1 1/3 cups water

1/3 cup canola oil

3 eggs

Directions

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt; set aside. Beat the butter,

white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth.

Add 1 egg and the vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Mix in the flour mixture

until just incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips; mixing just enough to evenly

combine. Form the dough into tablespoon-sized balls; place onto a baking sheet,

and freeze until solid, about 2 hours.

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 24 muffin cups with

paper liners.

Beat 3 eggs in a large bowl with an electric mixer to break up. Add the cake mix,

water, and canola oil; continue beating for 2 minutes on medium speed. Spoon

into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each 2/3 full. Place a frozen cookie dough

ball on the top center of each cupcake. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the cake portion of the

cupcake (not the cookie dough ball) comes clean, about 20 minutes. Cool in the

pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.
