The Camera roll now features auto-grouping, which organizes your photos and images based on location, date range, and frequency of activity.

Wi-Fi Sense intelligently connects to

good-quality free Wi-Fi hotspots when you are in range. It will also automatically accept terms of use and provide required credentials.

The Store now has a “For You” section. This section recommends apps based on what you and your friends have previously downloaded.

Data Sense warns you when you get close to your data limit, and reduces the frequency of non-critical tasks to save on data. It also compresses website images and text by up to 60%.

The updated calendar experience on Winidows Phone 8.1 gives you a new and instantly intuitive way to see your

appointments. Quickly access day, week, and month view all on one screen.

Battery Power Sense automatically keeps track of which apps use the most battery. You can also enable auto manage mode, which adds 20% to your battery’s life on average.

Get the same experience across all your Windows® 8.1 devices. Pin favourite sites to your Start screen, watch HTML 5 videos, and quickly pick up where you left off with recent tabs on any device connected to the same Microsoft account.

Storage Sense offers an easy-to-read breakdown of how your phone’s internal storage is being used. You can easily transfer items between your phone’s hard drive and the SD card, including apps.

Lumia WP8 phones are updated wirelessly. You don’t need a computer or cables, just download and install the update using your phone over a Wi-Fi connection.

To check for updates manually go to Settings > Phone update. Tap Check for updates to start the manual check.

By default your phone will automatically check for updates weekly. You will be notified when an update is available.

By default updates are automatically downloaded in advance, so that you can start the installation straight away. Updates are always downloaded if the phone is connected to Wi-Fi. An update is also downloaded through cellular data if the update is less than 50 MB, and Data Sense and subscription limits are not exceeded.

Just tap install to start – this will not take more than 5 minutes. Your user data will stay safe, but note that you cannot use your phone while the update is installing. Tapping postpone will remind you again in 72 hours.

Once the update is installed your phone will restart automatically. This is completely normal.
