WIND TURBINE MAJOR COMPONENT TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION § Visually inspect rigging and equipment; § Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools; § Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole boom, using bolts and clamps; § Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow opening or confined spaces, using gin poles, gallows frames and other equipment; § Connect turbine components; § Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use; § Fabricate, set up and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoist and pulling gear, using hand and power tools; § Manipulate rigging lines, hoists and taglines; § Select gear such as cables, pulleys and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities and work schedules; § Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure safety of workers and materials; § Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability § Dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under and/ or around obstacle, using multi-point rigging technics. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS § High School diploma or equivalent; § At least 2 years wind industry experience; § OSHA ans ANSI Crane Rigger required; § Basic wind technician certificates (Tower Rescue, CPR, First Aid, AED, OSHA 10, Competent Climber (fall protection), Confined Space, Working at Heights, NFPA 70, LOTO); § Valid OEM’s and GWO certificates are a plus; § Valid driver’s license and passport; § Must be able to travel in the USA; § Experience in turbine erection and dismantling, rebuilding gearboxes and/ or generators are a plus; § Experience with welding and metal cutting is plus.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED ABILITIES § Ability to read, understand and write in English language; § Ability to climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height; § Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 75 lbs in weight; § Ability to work safely and to properly use PPE; § Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time; § Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters; § Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions; § Ability to work alone or in a team.
