SOLAR ENERGY BIOENERGY

According to the European strategies for energy, INEGI, which already has recognized activities in the wind energy and energy efficiency sectors, re-cently started activities in different phases of the value chain of solar energy and bioenergy fields.

INEGI has been working in those areas, acquiring experience and developing its competences, which associated with the investments done for its techni-cians training and in specialized equipment (laboratorial facilities and equip-ment for experimental tests in order to quantify different parameters), allo-wing them to offer services with recognized quality in consulting, technology transfer and research/development on the cited areas.

The Institute has been working in the following steps of the chain of value of those sectors:

ONLINE METEOROLOGICAL DATA AND REPORTING

▪ SKIRON also provides information regarding the management of all equipment, enabling queries for equipment-tracking purposes, for example.

▪ Data is regularly checked by INEGI’s team assuring immediate detection of faults or trends, which may results in loss of data, enabling repairs or replacements and increasing availability. All data, both raw and processed, is, afterwards, made available through the platform.

▪ INEGI provides his Clients a secure web platform, SKIRON, in which all their meteorological data and reports are available for download.

ABOUT INEGI

INEGI is an interface Institution between University and Industry, oriented to the activities of Research and Development, In-novation and Technology Transfer. It was founded in 1986, among the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management (DEMEGI) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Being a non-profit private association and recognized as being of public utility, INEGI is currently considered an active agent playing a significant role in the development of the Portuguese industry, and in the transformation of its competitive model.

APPLIED RESEARCH

Along with the research activities co-funded by national and international entities we are also doing research projects for en-terprises under bilateral and multilateral contracts.

Our wide range of technical means and highly qualified staff allow us to engage in applied research aiming to resolving te-chnological locks and the development of competitive advantages based on technology, whether they are applied in new products or processes.

Through our experience in research and development projects with companies we have been able to build an approach and working methodology that ensures the project focus on the needs of enterprises and the mechanisms that guarantee the protection of their intellectual and industrial property.
