Women & Money need to remember that even the best deal they findis worth far less than a smart investment in theirretirement fund.” We need to step it up, women. We need to stop being so averse to risk ininvestments and long-term planning. Stop waiting on somebody else to handle it! Formany years, women were not educated inside theirhomes about investing. When you think about thefact that 100 years have still not passed since wewere given the right to vote, I can see that societyhas not come to terms with exactly how to educateor counsel on this subject. For many women, theireyes are not open to taking on this responsibilitythemselves until a major life event occurs; and theyare forced to learn to take charge. Stop the cycleand step up to the plate.

Take Action Will Planning: Planning your will is a great placeto start as a woman. True story: A couple came intoa Little Rock attorney’s office to discuss their estateplanning. They left without making any concreteplans. The next day that same couple was in a fatalcar crash leaving two kids behind. There was nowill. The children were turned over to the state. Theextended family members fought over them, andtheir estate ended up in probate which in turn tiedup their assets for years. The moral of the story isdon’t wait to finalize your will. Your children’s livesdepend upon it. Life Insurance: Obtain life insurance along withsome sort of retirement investment. Find yourvoice in investing and planning. LDear Ladies of WIN of Central Arkansas:

ocated in the heart of the city's art and fashion district, Romás by Linda RoweThomas has been slated as Little Rock's premiere luxury showroom. The 7000square-foot facility is Arkansas's only production house and designer showroom. The luxury showroom will house the Romás by Linda Rowe Thomas collection, consisting of custom couture, ready to wear and a new bridal edition. The facilitywill also offer a 2000 square foot event space for private parties and events. I've recently had the pleasure of partnering with the Capital Hotel, Esse PurseMuseum and Oxford American Magazine, to bring Fashion Footprints to the city's socialites. Fashion Footprints promises to make a lasting impact on theArkansas fashion scene by authentically engaging guests in a new way by givingour partners and guests a world-class platform to showcase their fashionheritage, artistic design via stories, videos and images. As a motivational speaker and serial philanthropist, I have the opportunity toinspire other burn survivors as a counselor at Camp Sunshine. Being a part ofsuch a great organization that motivates, builds confidence and gives hope toburn survivors - I was inspired to create the Designing Hope Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. In partnership with Arkansas Children’s Hospitaland The Arkansas Fire Fighter’s Association, the Designing Hope Foundationensures the continued success of programs such as Camp Sunshine and SOAR,benefitting burn survivors. Since my September, 2010, debut at New York Fashion Week, my designs havegraced the red carpets of the Golden Globes, The ESPY’s and numerous others. With a number of accolades under my needle and thread, I am planning theshowroom's grand opening, attending the Fashion Music Festival as a featureddesigner and returning to New York Fashion Week this September.

EDITOR: STEPHANIE CLOUSERIn recent years, there has been an encouraging push in our community to take part in charities that will profit the people

In a Voyage To Designing Your LifeMeet Central Arkansas' "Fabulous Four"

They are fabulous, and they know fashion. If you can dream it, theycan design it. Shonda Ali-Shamaa, Shamirra Clark, Sheila Scott andSonja Majors-Thomas know that when it comes to dressing forsuccess, you have to bring in the professionals. Tailor made to fityour body, these ladies have what it takes to make every woman lookas good on the outside as they feel on the inside. Each one of these Central Arkansas fashion designers have been onthe fashion scene for years. They want women to know that customgarments can actually cost you less than buying off the rack and willcertainly save you in the long run. Custom garments last yearslonger than mass-produced merchandise. Not only does working with local designers improve your wardrobe,it promotes the local economy and our environment as a whole. Think about it like a farmer's market, except for fashion...not fruit. Supporting local designers is the same as when you intentionallyshop at a "mom and pop" store instead of Wal-Mart. It's good foryour community, it's good for the environment and it's good for you! Doesn't seem so indulgent when you look at it that way, does it?
