WILSONThe CFHLA Governmental Affairs Committee met on Wednesday, January 13 at the Wyndham / Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area (Thank you, Jay Leonard!). Newly elected Orange County Commissioner for District 1, Nicole Wilson was the elected official guest of the January meeting. The committee used this opportunity to share their perspective and expertise with Commissioner Wilson on the history of the Tourist Development Tax, the challenges the Hospitality industry is currently facing, and more. Commissioner Wilson shared with the group her major goals for the next four-years including getting the community vaccinated, providing increased opportunities for technical education, and improving infrastructure through smart-growth.

CFHLA would also like to congratulate Frank Cirrincione, General Manager, Hilton Orlando North/Altamonte Springs for being named 2021 Chairman of the Seminole County Tourist Development Council.

The CFHLA Public Servant of the Year Award is presented annually to a public servant leader who has demonstrated dedication to the advancement of the Central Florida Tourism Industry and the community as a whole. CFHLA is proud to honor Dr. Raul Pino and the Florida Department of Health in Orange County as the 2020 Public Servant of the Year. Dr. Pino proves to be an integral advisor to our local elected, community, and business leaders throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Raul Pino will accept the 2020 Public Servant of the Year Award on behalf of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County at the annual STR Luncheon scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 18 at the Embassy Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista South.
