Winter 1973) Union County, SC Deed Book A Pages 392-393 dated 28 December 1786 WILLIAM GEORGE of Union County, SC, "Heir appent and administrator ofDA VID GEORGE," to WILLIAM WHITLOCK, Union County, SC, for 100 lbs. sterling, 800 acres, part of a larger tract on Brown's Creek of2200 acres originally granted to said DAVID GEORGE by LORD WILLIAM CAMPBELL on 21 July 1775. Recorded in Secretary's Office in Bk. YYY, pg. 239 and in Auditor's Book M N 15, pg. 1, on 8 November 1775. Bound by JOB HAMMOND, BORDEN, ZACHARIAH GIBBS, JOHN MAYFIELD, CHRISTOPHER BRANDON, JOHN GORDEN, WILLIAM McJUNKIN, HANDCOCK PORTER, AND WILLIAM WHITLOCK. EDSON both of Union County for 30 pounds sterling, a mortgage on a negro boy named Stephen (Stepney) about nine years old, condition being that if the above C. R. Edson do stop a certain suit brought by the executors of administration of the late JOHN McPHEARSON, deceased in the County Court of Union for 4000 wt. of tobacco and to pay the said WILLIAM WHITLOCK 12 lbs. of sugar and pay the above negro's taxes for two years or until the said WHITLOCK pay the said EDSON all the debts due EDSON & CO. or GRAFF & CO. together with the aforesaid debt due JOHN McPHEARSON, deceased with lawful interest, then the above bill of sale to be void, otherwise if not reduced within twelve months, to be in full force. Union Co. SC Pg. 321-32228 May 1789, WILLIAM WHITLOCK to HANCOCKPORTER, both of Union County, for 50 pounds sterling, 13 acres on the Old MainWaggon Road to Love's Ford and bound by JOSEPH JOLLY, ALEXR CAIN ANDWILLIAM WHITLOCK. Witness. THOMAS HUGHES Recorded 22 March 1790.

There was also a "leaseand release" dated 2 and 3 December, 1784 between JAMES TIMS, JR. yeoman andPATTY, his wife of St. Mark's Parish, SC to JAMES HAWKINS, planter that waswitnessed by SPILSBY GLENN. (Isn't this a Coleman connection?)

Goochland County Deed Book 6, Pg. 145.THOMAS WHITLOCK of GOOCHLAND TO DAVID MURRY of same, 60pounds ....300 acres by estimate, among the branches of Beaverdam Creek being the landthe said Thomas Whitlock purchased of Robert Christian of Albermarle County by deedbearing date of 17 June 1747 and of record in Goochland to have and to hold(description). Signed: THOMAS WHITLOCK. Witness: WILLlAL\1ROBERTS,WILLIAM REDFORD, JAMES MAYO. Mary Whitlock, the wife of Thomas,acknkowledges the release of her dower. (Notice the date. Grizel's son Thomas marriedMary Williamson but I don't have a date nor location! Something else to work on.)
