Wade Elementary School was originally constructed in 1989, and received a kindergarten
wing addition in 2002. Interior finishes are in fair condition, and floors show wear from
high-intensity use. VCT floors in the addition may have had installation issues, and
show an inordinate amount of wear. The gym is adorned with hard surfaces which are
not conducive to athletic activity. Skylights and clerestories provide natural light in
corridors, but may be susceptible to leaking issues. Circulation is clear and efficient.
Exterior cladding is in fair condition, and shows some staining. Mechanical systems
are in fair condition, and the domestic water system requires a back-flow preventer.
Electrical systems are in good condition, but security upgrades are required. The site
is constricted by a number of relocatables as well as a water tower. The site is located
along a heavily trafficked road.
