Hi Parents & Caregivers,Girls are Wild about Camp! Girl Scout Camp is exciting and chock-full of amazing activities and opportunities for new adventures: taking a deep breath, enjoying the smell of nature, building tents, hiking, creating a fire, and wrapping up the day with s’mores, campfire stories, and sleeping under the stars. And that’s just the start!

Girls can dive into a whole new world of activities at Girl Scout Camp:riding the perfect waves, rafting mountain rivers, zipping through thecanopies, swimming freely in lakes, working together to steer a canoe, cheering friends as they challenge themselves to try new things. Girls willalso grow their skills and strengthen their passion for environmentalstewardship through our leadership programming.

Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines wants every girl to have theopportunity to enjoy the traditional camp outings we all grew up with, while also taking advantage of the amazing variety of contemporaryoutdoor pursuits that camp allows them. In short, we want girls to have a camp experience they are wild about! Let’s explore together!

More than S’mores! At Girl Scouts, we move at the “speed of girls.” This means we are

constantly searching for new and exciting ways to provide girlsmodern, fun, and unique experiences. For nearly a century, theoutdoors has been a cornerstone of Girl Scouting.

Our research shows that outdoor exposure is extremely beneficialfor girls and that girls greatly enjoy the outdoor experiences they

have in Girl Scouts. Spending time outdoors is an excellent wayfor girls to explore leadership, build skills, and develop a deep

appreciation for nature all while building friendships andhaving fun.

With those priorities in mind, we are so excited to announce thecompletion of our new tree house unit at Camp Graham. This

summer, girls will have the opportunity to experience summercamp in the trees!

The tree house project is part of the Council’s strategicobjective to make improvements to our camp properties. Other

phase one improvements to camps include the addition ofelectricity and fans to cabins, renovation of bath houses, and

winterization of some unit facilities. We have also added excitingnew program elements, such as a low ropes course, paddleboards, gaga courts and more.

Girl Scout Camp Offers Leadership ExperienceThe Girl Scout Leadership Experience is central to our summercamp program. In addition to being full of fun activities, Girl Scout

Camp is an extension of our leadership programmingfor girls. Through a variety of opportunities and

experiences, girls will gain skills to become leaders who willmake the world a better place.

Camp Kaleidoscope at Camp Graham!Since the late 1970’s, Camp Kaleidoscope has been a huge partof Camp Graham. Through Camp Kaleidoscope, chronically illchildren can take a break from hospitals and have fun in theoutdoors. The boys and girls who attend Camp Kaleidoscopehave non-communicable chronic diseases such as cancer, asthma, kidney disease, or heart disease. Doctors, nurses, andother professionals from the Department of Pediatrics at DukeUniversity Medical Center spend the week with the campers inthe Kaleidoscope Program. They participate in all aspects ofcamp. For most of these children, Camp Graham is their firstcamping experience because they cannot go camping withoutdoctors, nurses, therapists, and special equipment. Without theKaleidoscope program, many of the children would never havea chance to experience the fun of summer camp!
