Call the other night supervisor’s home…he is not there
Call him on his cell phone
The other supervisor is in another town about 1 hours drive away. He has the check….Yeah!(apparently the employee had missed work and the supervisor put the check in his pocket and carried it home by accident)
One hour later the supervisor and the employee’s check arrive
It is now 1:00 and the wife of the employee is very upset, not to mention all the disruption this has caused

If the supervisor had promptly called the office about havingthe check all of this would have been avoided
A little bit of communication can prevent a whole lot of muda!

Finally - Referred employee to payroll so they could print another check
Payroll prints another check and does a stop payment on the originalcheck. Has the check signed. Then gives the check to the employee.
Later that day the original check surfaces and is voided. The bankis contacted that the stop payment is no longer necessary.
