ARS was instituted on strong conviction and strategic vision. Powered by a dedicated team of professionals and headed by visionary leaders, ARS’ highly devoted workforce has built the company brick by brick. The repute which the ARS brand enjoys today is built upon loyal and unstinting customer support, painstakingly nurtured through the years. ARS has, over the years, established a formidable presence in Tamil Nadu and emerged as a premium supplier of steel and electricity.

ARS is planning on ramping up its steel production and power generation to double its present capacity, while focussing on contiguous markets like Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

In the context of new challenges in the Steel & Power sector, ARS is determined to work ever more intensively to develop a deep understanding of the needs of the customers and the communities it serves, not only to balance the demand and supply, but also to have sustained growth. Only then will it deliver revolutionary products and services that bring delight to its customers and communities.

Any evolution and entrepreneurial thinking may lead to some short-term obstacles, but the ARS family has and always will overcome these obstacles to stay on course for long-term growth and advancement.

The ARS Group, which comprises of ARS Energy and ARS Steel, was incorporated as ARS Metals Pvt. Ltd., on 19th September 1990. ARS was established not only to help India reach her goal of becoming a global superpower but also to help South India, specifically, Tamil Nadu, become one of the most prominent production/manufacturing hubs in the country.

Since its inception, the promoter-directors of the company, Mr. Ashwani Kumar Bhatia, and Mr. Rajesh Bhatia have galvanized the energy and steel industry, and plan on using their vast experience in expanding overseas.

One of the biggest players in the steel industry in Tamil Nadu, ARS Steel, an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified steel manufacturer, has one of the largest induction furnace-based Steel mills in the country. The company is quality focussed and does not compromise when it comes to delivering high-quality and best-in-class TMT bars.

Further, ARS Steel, in 2009, increased its billet production by installing a new furnace, thereby increasing the total capacity of the furnace to 1,30,000 MTPA. It also increased the capacity of its Rolling Mill to 1,80,000 MTPA.

In the future, the company plans on expanding its present steel melting facility even further by putting up another 25 MT furnace by December 2017, thus ramping up billet production capacity to 2,50,000 MTPA, and rolling mill capacity to 2,30,000 MTPA.

Keeping in mind the commitment it has to its country and her people, ARS Energy, established in August 2013, was started to enlighten lives. Already successfully running a 60 MW Captive Power Plant, the company plans on setting up a higher-capacity Power Plant to build a nation that is self-sufficient in power generation.

Practical and sustainable development forms the core of ARS’ ethos. Keeping this in mind, ARS Energy was set up in the year 2011. Following the commencement, ARS successfully erected and commissioned a 1X60 MW coal-based Group Captive Thermal Power Plant at Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu, on July 2013.

EVOLUTION

May 2010- ARS acquired land for a 2x60 MW Power Plant in Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu.

April 2011- ARS obtained environment clearance for a 2x60 MW Power Plant.

April 2011- ARS attained financial closure for a 1x60 MW Power Plant.

May 2011- ARS placed a turnkey contract order for a 60 MW coal-based Thermal Power Plant at Cethar Vessels Ltd.

July 2013- A 1x60 MW Power Plant was synchronised.

August 2013- A 1x60 MW GCPP Power Plant was officially commissioned.

April 2018- ARS plans on commencing the construction of its second 1X60 MW Power Plant.

POWER PLANT SPECIFICATIONS

PROJECTS UNDER PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT

The 60 MW Power Plant at ARS Steels Ltd., Gummidipoondi, is a coal-fired Thermal Power Plant.

The capacity of the CFBC (Circulating Fluidised Bed Combustion) boiler is 251 TPH at 110 ata and 540°C.

Steam generated by the CFBC boiler is utilised to run the 60 MW multi-stage Axial Flow. The turbine generator is supplied by SNM, Japan.

Power is exported through ARS’ 230 kV Switchyard (package supplied by M/s ABB with Siemens make 230 kV breakers) and through 32 dedicated 230 kV towers, to TNEB 230 kV SS, located at 7 km from the Power Plant.

The ESP with 99.9 % efficiency collects 99.9% of ash from Flue Gas, which is released through ID fans and chimneys (145m in height), with <50 mg/Nm3 dust emission level.

After giving off thermal energy at 0.18 ata to the turbine, the low-pressure exhaust steam enters the air-cooled condenser (GEA make- 14 nos. of two speed fans).

All other equipment and bought outs have been procured from Class 1 Vendors.

The plant has been in operation under SPEL (directed by ARS).

CSR ACTIVITIES

ARS Group has been founded on the noble intention of putting a smile on every face and lighting up people’s lives. Its principles emphasise on a policy that is committed towards protection and improvement of the environment. ARS’ CSR projects have helped improve quality of life and access to education. Its ecological initiatives aim at reduction and prevention of environmental pollution by continuously upgrading technology and adhering to the best environment management practices.

SOME OF THE KEY AREAS OF ARS’ COMMUNITY-BASED DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS ARE:

HEALTH

Construction of a Primary Health Centre with the provision of an emergency ambulance in the local panchayat.

ARS’ contribution of 1.50 lakhs towards pre-natal and post-natal support programs, helped in equipping the Eguvarpalayam Primary Health Centre with medical equipment such as Maternity Ward beds and Incubators.

Malnourishment amongst children was reduced via Food-For-All programs.

EDUCATION

Provision was made for computers, furniture, study materials and scholarship opportunities in schools, so that children from these impoverished areas could receive education that is on par with education delivered in private schools across the state.

Water coolers were installed in the schools, and their toilet facilities were renovated to further stress on the importance of hygiene.

THE COMPANY ALSO SERVES THE COMMUNITY BY:

Actively participating in environmental conservation to the best of its capabilities. ARS’ Power Plant boasts of 7,000 trees spread around it, and is the only plant in South India to support a rain water harvesting system.

Providing good infrastructure facilities such as well-cemented roads, bus stops at two primary locations and street lights for the Eguvarpalayam village.

Improving the feasibility of clean water supply, through the construction of a 200 feet Borewell in 5 locations at Eguvarpalayam village.

Working in partnership with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Government Bodies, to hone the overall development of the community, through many constructive initiatives.

Conducting Medical Camps for village people and proactively encouraging its employee base to contribute towards society.
