Chuck Heady At the September WIBA Membership Meeting,

our speakers were Mark Romano and Ralph Schmidt

from Diamond Pier Foundation Systems. They have

been in business for 30 years. Diamond Pier Founda-

tion Systems is an inclined pin pile technology that

spreads the load over greater area of surface up to about 5 ½ feet of ground. It is structurally rated and

code compliant with the International Code Council. It

can be used commercially for townhouses and bridges

and residentially for decks and accessibility ramps.

This is a heavy duty foundation that can be installed

quickly. It minimizes the impact on the environment. You can install it with hand tools. It minimizes excava-

tion area, soil disruption, and water flow, the need for

heavy machinery, and damage to vegetation. It requires

very little concrete. It is resilient to seismic activity.

They do provide a lifetime warranty covering parts & labor. It is not used in a very rocky soil but is ideal for

other types of soil. It can be used if there are a few

rocks or boulders. It is installed in minutes with pins

that are inserted into a high strength concrete base

before the load is built on it. The pins have caps so

that inspectors can check the length. They do provide an ICC-ES Evaluation Report which is helpful for the

city to be able to inspect it. For more information,

69 Members Special Thanks to Roger Williams, General

Contractor for arranging our speakers from Diamond Pier Foundation Systems.

Thank you very much Amy Schwartz for

volunteering to work on an extra project for the WIBA Christmas Party!

    WIBA Christmas Party Committee meets

after the WIBA Membership Meeting on October 18th at the Kensington. Thank you from Carl Sandburg College for

donation to M. Brad Johnson Memorial Scholarship.

    Congratulations!

Kacie Lane of Integrity Construction & Home Improvement won the 50/50

Drawing. She won $48 Congratulations, Kacie!

Bathrooms Plus Inc. was drawn for

$50 Cash Drawing. They were not present so the Cash Drawing rolls over to $75 for the October WIBA Member-

    ship Meeting.

    WIBA Board President’s Letter

    Sincerely, Scott Howe,

    WIBA Board President

My apologies to Donald Lane of Integrity Construction and

Home Improvement, winner of the 50/50 Draw-

ing last month for misspelling his name. Sorry!

    Congratulations, Donald Lane!

    Dear WIBA Members,

    Wow! Diamond Pier Foundation Sys-

tems put on a very interesting presentation.

It is a unique product. Hope to see you at

the next WIBA Membership Meeting! Our

own WIBA Member, Chuck Heady from

Todd’s Mudjacking Service Inc. will be our

    speaker.

The 50/50 Drawing was doing well

on gaining ticket sales at the last WIBA

    Membership Meeting then an anonymous

donor gave $50 to the because he thought it

was for a good cause. Isn’t that a great idea?

Our next CASH Drawing will be

worth $75! Who is going to win that?

We have lots of great plans for the

WIBA Christmas Party. Hope you can join

us and enjoy all the festivities. Save the date

and let Kaylee know if you can come.

    Have a great Fall everyone!

This summer the parent company, IAC, of Home Advisor announced they will finalize the purchase of Angie’s List for $500,000,000 in the fourth quarter. A year and a half ago the offer was $512,000,000. Both have reputable businesses based on delivering homeowners and home service professionals amazing value.

Angie’s list is a 20 year Indianapolis based pioneering business review com-pany. It was founded by Angie Hicks. It was based on people paying a monthly sub-scription fee of over $30 for access to reports and ratings of service providers in hundreds of categories. The subscription also included a monthly magazine.

In the beginning, people reviewed providers online and through phone calls.

By 2002, Angie’s List had over 100,000 subscribers, 65 employees and $5,000,000 in revenue.

On 2014, it grew to 2,000 employees and planned a $40,000,000 expansion. But people began to turn to free review sites ranging like Home Advisor. In 2015, the ex-pansion was canceled and in 2016, Angie’s List dropped it’s subscription require-ment for customers. They lost 7.9 million dollars.

Home Advisor then opened an office in Indianapolis and hired former An-gie’s List employees.

Home Advisor is free to the potential customer and consumers answer a se-ries of detailed questions before a list of ideal contractors pops up. Home Advisor offers leads that cost from $20-$80 to the contractor. Businesses undergo a rigorous background check also.

Home Advisor gives the opportunity to leave reviews, ratings, advice, and comments.

By combining the recognizable brand, Angie’s List with the strength of Home Advisor should be a growth opportunity of offering remodelers more adver-tising options, exposure to homeowners, and increase the market and online con-versions .

They plan to consolidate and form a viable company to elevate home services experiences for an even broader base of customers.
