Wi-Fi Management

When the dongle is on (usually toghether with instruments) it will automatically creating specific Wi-Fi network, during this phase the red led blinks, at the end of the process will be on permanently.

Before making the connection to the astra board you need to activate wifi on the device and connect to the astra network. To do this you need to access the wifi network device and activate the service by clicking to the left of astra board (check that the number indicated corresponds to your number of dongle).

WARNINGS!

• If the 3G connection is enabled you have to disable it because it can interfere with the WiFi connection.

• Only one device at a time can access the Wi-Fi network, any device nearby that is already connected to the same networkof Astra board before making the connection can create a connection problem. If you want to use on a boat most apple devicesyou must have more dongle (can be connected in parallel to the on-board instrumentation)

1 3. Connecting the Esa Regatta app to the Esa Dongle

In esa software the management and status of Wi-Fi are included in the Home screen (page???). By accessing this screen you can manage the reception of data fron the Astra board and check the status. After completing all the procedure for the Wi-Fi service on your apple device and the network connection with Astra board is created you can enable receiving data from home screen . The switch in the central part of the Home screen to the leftallows you to start receiving data from the Astra board and at the same time provides the status of the communication, becomes blue if the connection is successful.

CONNECTION ISSUES

The system automatically manages any temporary problems of connection making the reconnection autonomously. Le problematiche di connessione vengono indicate con una schermata di avviso, che consente anche, una volta risolto il problema, di effettuare un tentativo di riconnessione senza ritornare obbligatoriamente alla Home di esa(solo in casi particolari può essere necessario, permette il ripristino della connessione e del programma di navigazione).

POSSIBLE CAUSES THAT GENERATE THE ERROR MESSAGE

The Astra board is not powered: check the power supply and the red led on the board that must be switched on permanently. RECEIVING DATA ISSUES

The status of the receiving data is displayed in the navigation screen analysis from data reception icon located in the lower right of the screen, this data is generally more indicative of what is displayed by telephone. The icon has three different states:

Optimal reception level: data arrive at constant intervals and there are no problems of any kind.

Good reception level: data do not arrive at constant intervals; in this situation it is necessary to wait a few seconds, not move further away from the Astra board, to see if the receiving level data returns to optimal or degraded to insufficient.

Insufficient reception level: in this situation it is necessary to move closer to the astra board to improve the connection signal. If it remains in this condition for an extended period of time receiving data may end.

If the reception level is insufficient or ends an error message appears telling you to move closer to the Astra board and give the possibility of an automatic reconnection to the device. If the attempt is successful, the message disappears and the program resumes its normal operation. If appears the message of connection issue perform the procedure described above.

WARNING

TRANSMITTER MUST NOT BE SHIELDED WITH “MATT” MATERIALS AT THE RADIO TRANSMISSION

The materials that absorb more signal are iron, water and moist materials (also the human body), in boat a problem can arise from carbon fiber.
