Want to know more about how to plug in to the ministry of Christ Church?

Interested in what we are doing both near and far to spread the love of Christ? Or just hungry for some good chili?

Join us this morning for our Ministry Fair in the Family Life Gym, beginning right after the Cornerstone service at 11 am, and running through 1:30 pm.

Visit the various displays, talk with those involved in each of our ministry areas, help judge the chili cookoff, and enjoy some good table fellowship.

No prior reservation is needed—just come on over after you worship this morning.

UPCOMING FOCUSTHE WEEKLY WORDby Pastor C. Chappell Temple

Looking for a church home?

SUNDAY WORSHIP SCHEDULE *All morning services are held in the Sanctuary.

FIRST LIGHT (Simple) - 8:15 - 9:05 am

CORNERSTONE (Contemporary) - 9:30 - 10:40 am FESTIVAL (Traditional) - 10:55 am -12 pm

STUDENT WORSHIPSunday evenings from 5 - 7 pm in the FLC Gym. Dinner served at 5 pm ($2).

Our Bride’s Room, located just to the right of the Sanctuary, is open during all services for the use of parents with young children, with worship streamed live into the room.

All are warmly welcomed at Christ Church. We invite you to stop by our “I’m New Here” table downstairs in the Gathering Hall where you can find out more about our congregation. First time guests can also pick up a special welcome gift there. If you would like to join the Christ Church family today, you may do so either by professing your faith in Jesus Christ, or by transferring your membership from another Christian congregation. Simply fill out a new member card which may be found in the Sanctuary pew racks and bring it with you as you come to the front to meet the pastors during the closing music at any of our services. If you have not yet been baptized, we will be happy to recognize your decision today as well as arrange for a convenient time to talk with you about the meaning of that sacrament before scheduling it for one of our upcoming worship services. For more information about our programs, staff and beliefs, please visit our website at www.christchurchsl.org.

It’s atrocious grammar, to be sure, and when it first came out, it was banned in many places by some who thought the lyrics to be far too suggestive, leaving only “pirate” radio stations to air it. Still, the three-note riff that begins the song made it into a monster hit for the group that recorded it, changing the Rolling Stones from just another band into a cultural force that has lasted for decades.

Some have placed it among the top ten single songs of all time, and at least one survey listed it among “100 records that shook the world,” before Rolling Stones magazine

acclaimed it as the second-greatest song of all time, trailing only Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone.” (Seems to be a motif here…)

Of course, when Mick Jagger and Keith Richards first penned the words way back in 1965, they may not have realized the kind of common nerve their signature song struck. For whether you like rock music or not, most of us can probably identify indeed with the idea that “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.”

Long ago, however, a man on a hillside suggested that it all depends on what you are longing for in life. For even though we may be disappointed in other areas, if you just happen to be hungering for righteousness, He promised that we could indeed be satisfied in life by focusing in on our faith.

Whatever you may have come searching for this morning, the good news is you need not be locked in a double negative any longer: You just have to know where to look.

ANTHEM Come, Thou Fount by Craig Courtney Come, Thou Fount of every blessings, tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise mine Ebenezer, hither by thy help I'm come; and I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wand'ring from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to Thee: Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.
