Why We Chose The City Mini

Versat i l i ty: Chi ldren’s needs change throughout the years that

they need to r ide in a strol ler. Their needs can even change over

the course of a day.

We looked for strol lers that permitted this versati l i ty – the back can l ie f lat for a s leeping

chi ld or an infant, and it can go upright for an alert and awake

chi ld

who wants to get a good look at Cinderel la and al l the other

attractions of Disney World (or wherever you’re going in or around Orlando). And the

harness has to be adjustable, too.

Not too big; not too small . A strol ler, even a double strol ler, has to be big enough to f it the chi ld r iding in it (or the two

chi ldren) but it shouldn’t be so big that it’s a pain to push and

even worse to get through doors.

One thing we loved about the Baby Jogger City Mini double strol ler is that it is able to get through an average doorway without you bashing your knuckles or having

to fold up the strol ler. We’re sure that you’l l love this feature,

too.

We did see one type of double strol ler that had a double-decker

construction, but we rejected this in favour of the s ide-by-s ide

style of the City Mini – both kids probably want to see what’s

going on.

A big hood: Here in Orlando, we’re practical ly in the tropics,

which means that any strol ler we have avai lable has to have a big

hood to

keep off the strong Florida sunshine and also to give Junior a bit of shelter i f a rain shower blows up from the sea and head our way. In the double vers ion, the hoods are independent, so you can adjust them as needed

for the kids the separate seats.

Luggage space: If you’re going to the effort of pushing a strol ler around a theme park or around

town, then you’ve got enough of a workout on your hands.

You don’t want to have to lump a whole lot of stuff in big bag on

your back. This is why we’ve chosen strol lers with a good, generous bit of luggage space

placed strategical ly underneath the strol ler, which also helps to

lower the strol ler’s centre of gravity so it is even less l ikely to

t ip.

Accessories: We have been careful to choose a style of

strol ler that has a lot of optional accessories avai lable. The

accessories that you can get – at no extra charge, incidental ly – with the City Mini (double or

s ingle)

include a rain shield, a chi l ler pack for the luggage

compartment (a real must for keeping drinks and snacks cool in

the hotter Florida weather)

and a parent console pack that includes a cup holder so you can

stay hydrated during al l that hard work of pushing a strol ler

around the place.

You can also get a gl ider board that provides a handy place for

an older s ibl ing to rest at strategic moments (there’s more

about this in another art ic le) .

Oh yes – the strol lers we picked out for our f leet of Orlando

strol ler rentals had to look good, too. We’re profess ionals and we

want our equipment to look smart!
