    This is Emily Cummins. At age21 she developed a variationof the pot-in-pot cooler.

    Her version uses two metalliccylinders, one inside theother, between which alocally-sourced material suchas sand or wool is packedtightly before being soakedwith water.

    When the fridge is placed in awarm environment, the sunsenergy causes the outer partof the fridge to sweat. Waterevaporates from the sand orwool and heat energy istransferred away from theinner cylinder, therebycooling it.

    Piyush Kant Verma, 20 years old,wanted to make the lives of thesepoor laborers easier. They knewthat the laborers usually usedbicycles to transport goods, sothey decided to invent anapparatus to lift, secure, andlower the heavy load betweenthe ground and the bicycle.

    This apparatus consists of ahydraulic and pneumatic systemthat lifts a platform and secures itonto heavy duty bicycles.
