Opening Keynote Address:
Sponsored By Why Green IT Makes “Cents”-The Business Case for Green Computing Green IT has been slow to take off and its potential has been limited and remains greatly untapped despite a dismal financial climate over the last 3 years that shows no real signs of abating. The need to cut costs and do more with less has brought the Green IT issue to the fore. The Keynote Address establishes the business case for a Green IT strategy to be adopted”. While it makes for good PR to talk about how low a carbon footprint your Organization and your IT Function has, at the end of the day it all means nothing if there are no real bottom-line benefits to be realized. This presentation will give practical and demonstrable reasons why your CEO & CFO will welcome a solid Green IT Strategy that has environmental and bottom-line benefits/impacts.

Session Presented In Partnership with Strategies for effectively overcoming/mitigating Security Concerns in the Cloud-CISO PANEL Now that we have established Cloud Computing’s “Green Advantage. It is important to also investigate the obstacles to its adoption. Cloud computing, with its myriad architectures and public and private options has raised a number of security and compliance issues. Security is a major barrier towards widespread enterprise adoption/implementation of Cloud Computing and with it the attendant energy and efficiency benefits. Our expert Panel will dive into the different security options available across multiple cloud architectures and address security issues facing the cloud today and strategies to counter these.

CLOUD COMPUTING-COMPLIANCE Moving highly regulated industries to the Cloud. The Pharmaceutical and Financial Services Industry In The Cloud SESSION E 11.35AM-12.20AM
Highly regulated industries like the Pharmaceutical and Financial Services Industry that deal with highly sensitive personal data and also have high regulatory barriers to contend with. This makes moving to the cloud and realizing the various efficiencies outlined in the previous presentations difficult but not impossible. With Cloud Providers routinely moving data between various datacenters it can be difficult to know where the data is held, at any one point in time. This is a quick way to run afoul of HIPAA(Health Insurance Portability Act of 1996) and FDA (Federal Drug Administration) regulations. A wholesale move/migration is not sensible under these constraints.
Speakers Dave Finn, CIMA, CISA-Health IT Officer, Symantec
Getting the full value out of Virtualization SESSION F 12.20PM-1.00PM
Virtualization's ability to enable IT to reduce the number of servers needed through consolidation and the fact that it can cut costs in not only hardware and software, but also power and physical space are all welcome benefits in a time when budget cuts are the order of the day. As is often the case with IT, Virtualization technology burst onto the scene a few steps ahead of tools for effectively managing it, and now many Organizations are encountering vexing challenges that threaten to derail the benefits. To realize the full value of Virtualization IT must effectively address management issues in unique to the Virtual environment.
• Systems management challenges in the Virtualized environment and how to overcome them • Consolidated views for Physical and Virtual Servers • Access Rights • Server Availability • Security Concerns
