Why do we Sing Only

Background Information

Some say only 2 verses in N.T. that say to sing

We saw there are many more

God is not worshiped with mans hands

(Acts 17:25-30)

Almost all (denominations) began without instruments

We should never try and justify mans actions

We should do as God directs now!!!!!

What purpose then was the law

Romans 8:3 But the law was weak and could not save

Romans 8:12-17 It was a law of bondage and fear unto death

Hebrews 8:7,13 The New Covenant takes away the law of sin and death

Deut. 24:1 Divorce Certificate for any reason

Lev. 19:12 Swearing under heaven

The Priest, Levites were only ones directed to play instruments

1 Chr. 6:1,31-32 Ministering with music

1 Chr. 9:33-34 Levites were the singers

1 Chr. 13:4-8 Israel, David changed

1 Chr. 15:13-16 David puts things in order

1 Chr. 23:1-5 David made the instruments

2 Chr. 7:1-6 Priest played while Israel stood

An interesting note:

Many use the psalms to prove musical instruments in worship today.

Unfortunately for them, they do not look at the overwhelming evidence for singing

About 14 verses in Psalms deal with playing instruments

About 70 verses in Psalms deal with singing to the Lord

1 Chr. 16:9,23

“Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him:

Talk of all His wondrous works.”

“Sing to the Lord, all the earth;

Proclaim the good news of His Salvation from day to day.”

An Instrument can not do these things

An instrument CAN NOT sing the new song of Moses and the Lamb

Revelation 15:3

“They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying; Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and True are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For you alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You. For Your judgments have been manifested.”
