“Why am I Not a Better Christian?”
Your answer may be, “I don’t know enough.” To which God asks, “But are you now doing everything that you do know?” Or you may say, “I don’t have enough time!” God may respond, “With the time you have, are you now using all of it to glorify Me?”
Most of our reasons are just plain excuses. These aren’t the real reason at all. The real reason we aren’t better is because we are afraid! We fear making changes. We fear what others may think, say, or do if we change. We fear the consequences of change? It is our fear that keeps us stagnant.
Here are some good thoughts different people have regarding “Fear.” “The remarkable thing about God is that when you fear God, you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God, you fear everything else,” Oswald Chambers
“Everything you want is on the other side of fear,” Jack Canfield
“We do not fear the unknown. We fear what we think we know about the unknown,” Teal Swan
“You can conquer any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn’t exist anywhere except in the mind,” Dale Carnegie
“Fear is not your enemy. It is a compass pointing you to the area where you need to grow,” Steve Pavlina
“F-E-A-R has two meanings; ‘Forget Everything And Run,’ or ‘Face Everything And Rise.’ The choice is yours,” Zig Ziglar
There is really only one thing we need to know about fear. “God has not
given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7. So if God is not the source of our fears, then why should we be afraid? Nothing we fear is greater than God, is it? His
promises are far greater than whatever our fears promise! Jesus would ask, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith,” Matthew 8:26?

Jesus Is Supreme
Since the Monday Night Bible class is currently studying the subject of the Godhead (Trinity), this section from Colossians, (chapter 1) is enlightening. It deals with the preeminence of Christ.
In verse 15, the Bible states our Lord’s relationship to His Father by saying, “He is the image of the invisible God.” Then in verse 19, it talks about God being “pleased to have all His fullness dwell in our Lord.” Then to further emphasize the point of Colossians 1:19, the text states that “in Christ all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Christ’s bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). Fullness as it is used here means completeness as in all divine attributes being completely at home in Christ.
Christ is the firstborn over all creation, meaning He holds the most elevated position above all created things. In verse 16, the Bible shows that He (Christ) created all things thus dismissing the false doctrine that Christ was first created and then He created everything else.
Also reading in verse 16, it says that all things were created for Him (Christ). This shows that Jesus was the goal of creation. All creation was for His will and purpose. This by itself should convince humankind that we should want to please Him by His style of living for ourselves.
The statements made in Chapter 1 should compel us to be driven to Him.

Christ! AM I INSURED?
One of the first questions asked when a house burns down is, “Were they insured?” We want to know that the people will have some “starting over” money to restock and rebuild. It lessens today’s pain to know that there is hope for tomorrow. As important as a homeowners policy is, we should be more concerned with spiritual “fire insurance.” The “uninsured” will face Christ’s wrath when He comes “in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:8). Christians will not be hurt by the fire, for they have “fire insurance.” Heart to Heart
