ISAAC & TARA MANOGAROM

Freedom In Christ/STEPS- India

Isaac and Tara Manogarom serve as national

missionaries in Chennai, India. Through Free-

dom in Christ Ministries, they run several min-

istries including a girl’s home called STEPS, a

Christian publishing company and a laundry

business. Isaac has recently phased out of his

position with Freedom in Christ Ministries and

is transitioning into a new role. Isaac has been in the role of director of Freedom

in Christ for more than 20 years. He is now transitioning into a networking and

coordinator role. In a recent newsletter Isaac wrote the following regarding their

ministry to STEPS…

“The desire for Tara and I, going forward, is to be intentionally involved with

STEPS Home, and the Save Her initiative, which is involved in spreading the world

that our girls are under siege. To make the world know about the dangers girls

are in, and about how we are rescuing them from abortion, abuse, and abandon-

ment. 11 years have gone by and it has been a wonderful journey to have res-

cued over 50 precious girls - and at present, to have 19 girls with us. It has been

so gratifying to see these girls being rescued and restored to all that God wants

each of these girls to have a full life. In the past six months, we have welcomed

five new girls to our home. They have come from very difficult backgrounds, and

abusive situations.” There is always a lot going on in India and God is moving in

many ways! One of these is the 4-14 Window Conference. They wrote “We're also

thankful for the opportunity to attend a conference next month called the 4-14

Window Global Retreat. Over 1,400 church leaders, children and youth workers

come together from all over to attend this conference. More than 90 nationalities

will be present! It's a fantastic way to learn about how to equip the future gener-

ations. This is going to be an important conference for us, as we want to raise our

young girls to be passionate for God and for the church.” They have also shared

some prayer requests below:

Pray for wisdom and discernment as we raise 21 children - the 19 STEPS girls,

and then our own two. That He would put the hedge of protection around

our family and our girls.

Pray that God would provide for our day to day needs.

FUN FACT...This year our VBS kids raised just over $500 to send to the STEPS girls. This provided their uniforms and supplies for each of the girls for this upcoming school year!

A Tale of Two Philosophers

-What did Jesus come to earth to do? (v. 13-15) (cf. Psalm 133:1)

-When wealth and material possessions consume us (v. 16-19)

The Parable of the Unjust Steward/Shrewd Manager (Luke 16:1-9)

-A moral lesson from an immoral person (v. 1-3, 8)

-What exactly did the steward/manager do? (v. 5-7)

-Remove all profit

-Remove his own share of the profit

-Remove the master's illegal interest

-Who's receiving whom? (v. 4, 9)

3 Principles of Kingdom Economics

1. Your relationship to money is a window into your soul

2. Practice wise generosity

3. The neutrality of money and inestimable value of persons

Luke 12:13-21; 16:1-9

The Rich Fool and

the Shrewd Manager

“KINGDOM ECONOMICS” Luke 12:13-21 & 16:1-9

KINGDOM ECONOMICS

"Not even when one has an abundance …": Reflect on Jesus' statement in

Luke 12:15, "not even when one has an abundance does his life consist in his pos-

sessions." Think about your stuff (money, cars, property, etc.) and ask God to help

you assess your relationship to it all. Ask Him to reveal concrete ways that you can

develop a healthy approach toward material possessions.

"Rich toward God": At the end of the parable of the rich fool, in Luke 12:21,

Jesus calls us to be rich toward God. Take a few minutes and write down some

biblical commands (from both the Old Testament and the New Testament) that

exemplify being rich toward God. Think over that list several times during the

week, asking God to lead you into situations where you can practice wise generos-

ity.

"Sons of this age" vs. "Sons of light": In the parable of the unjust steward/

shrewd manager, Jesus uses a deplorable character to teach a Kingdom truth. If

the sons of this age know how to act in order to escape a worldly crisis, how much

more should we, as sons of light, know how to act in order survive the eschatolog-

ical crisis (see Luke 16:8)? Think through how you would respond to someone who

asked you whether this passage is teaching that you are saved based on how you

use your money.

"True riches": Read Luke 16:10-13, a cluster of verses that follow directly from

the parable of the unjust steward/shrewd manager and build on the teaching of

the parable. Jesus equates money with "little things" and juxtaposes it with "true

riches" (see Luke 16:10-11). What do you think these "true riches"

are and is God in the business of dispensing such riches now as

His followers are faithful to Him in the "little things"? Praise

God for both the little things and the true riches that He

has entrusted to you.
