Pre-Conference Workshop

Covenant Health is partnering with the City of Lethbridge, the Social Housing in Action Committee, and severalservice agencies to address the complex health needs of some of the most vulnerable members of our community. These individuals often suffer from complex physical and mental health conditions exacerbated by addictions andchronic homelessness. Their needs are complex and historically service provision has been limited and fragmented.Drawing on inspiration from the founding congregations of Sisters, those who lovingly served at the fringes ofsociety, Covenant Health is committed to addressing personal biases and organizational judgment in its journey tobecoming a “Good Neighbour”. Building community and serving with other agencies, ministries, and departments,Covenant Health has provided positive support to our vulnerable neighbours.

Keeper of Sacred Stories: Nurturing andaffirming the potential for wholeness in thepeople we serve

This workshop will look at the power of ‘storytelling’ as a meansto nurture people’s spirituality. Participants will explore spiritualityin the context of storytelling and learn practical steps to nurtureand affirm the potential for wholeness in the people they serve.Stories are how we orient ourselves in our world and make senseof what is going on in it. Telling our story is a way of discoveringourselves and what is deepest in our hearts, and so the very actof sharing our story with others counteracts the isolation weoften feel. It also carries within it the seeds of community andconnection, which are often lacking in the busyness of our lives.
