1 Kings 18:20-40And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of the LORD, and the God who answers by fire, he is God." And all the people answered, "It is well spoken."
(vs. 24)
1 Kings 18:20-40And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying, "Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened."
(vs. 27)
1 Kings 18:20-40
And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back." (vss. 36-37)
1 Kings 18:20-40
Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, "The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God." (vss. 38-39)

Reckless LoveOh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God.
Oh, it chases me down, fights til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine.
I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still you give yourself away.
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God.
There’s no shadow you won’t light up,
Mountain you won’t climb up,
Coming after me.
There’s no wall you won’t kick down,
Lie you won’t tear down
Coming after me.--- Cory Asbury. Bethel Music Publishing, 2017

Acts 17:24-25
The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.

Revelation 15:2-4And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire--and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed."
Revelation 19:11-16Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting
on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and
makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many
diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is
called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine
linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his
mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations,
and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of
the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his
thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Christian life is a life of
continual repentance from
false gods/idols of the heart
to the true God of the Bible.
The human heart is a
veritable factory of idols!
- John Calvin
Our primary task is to
know God as He is, not
as we wish Him to be!
