At four it was gone

At ten years

I lost

A son

Living now?

35 years old.

When I was born

It was a shame

To be

Not Black

Not White

First day of school?

Fighting, fighting, fighting..

Against people

That should have protected

me…

I was barely three foot tall

22 pounds

I remember big, scary, grown

people

Hurting me

Why?

I asked…

Because I wasn’t white

Nor Black

Sad

So sad, I don’t understand….

Why they hurt me.

Fourteen came

And I cut my losses

Divorced those people

That hurt me

I’ve tried

So

very

Hard

To live my life…

Reaching out

Time passes

He gave me

A mission

To witness

And

Help

Yet

I

Am still being

Tested

Hurt

Ridiculed

I persevere

Always moving forward

Like a hurricane

I am a force of nature

I will move…
