Campground Tips• Help prevent the spread of
aquatic invasive species. Always “Clean, Drain, Dry and Dispose” when using watercraft or water-related equipment.
• Build no fires except in a designated firepit or use a camp stove. Before leaving make sure your fire is completely out.
• Please! Do not litter.
• Be sensitive to wildlife. Bears can be dangerous and should not be fed. Food must be stored away from your campsite, preferably in a locked vehicle, to avoid attracting hungry animals. Do not store food in your tent.
• The use of insect repellent will add to your comfort.
• Learn to recognize and avoid poisonous plants such as poison ivy.
• In case of injury or illness contact a Campground Attendant or Park Patrol Officer. They can assist you to reach medical help.
• Canoeists and hikers travelling in backcountry areas should advise a friend of their intended destination and anticipated length of trip.
• Backcountry camping is only allowed at designated campsites.
• It is illegal to use or transport elm firewood.
• Moving firewood can spread harmful invasive species and destroy our forests. Protect Manitoba’s trees. Don’t move firewood.
Over 200 lakes situated within the boreal forest of the Whiteshell, sets the scene for an array of wildlife – moose, black bear, mink, fox, warblers and loons to name just a few. Throw in a hook and test your skills with big northern pike, bass and walleye.
Park interpreters ensure that visitors leave their programs enlightened, happy and wanting more. They lead guided tours, stage special events and provide children’s activities. At Falcon Lake and West Hawk Lake, watch interpreters present amphitheatre productions involving slide shows, films and special guest presentations during the summer. If you are planning a driving tour, more learning opportunities await at the Whiteshell Fish Hatchery near Caddy Lake or at the Alf Hole Goose Sanctuary in Rennie.
Follow the Whiteshell’s many self-guiding trails and discover the natural and cultural features of the park. Falcon Creek self-guiding trail waits to be explored. Part of the Trans-Canada Trail, the South Whiteshell Multi-use Trail connects the area for the enjoyment of hikers, runners, cyclists and cross-country skiers. Tour the water
by canoeing the popular Caddy Lake or Mantario routes.
Falcon Beach is one of the best known campgrounds in Manitoba. Take advantage of its basic, electrical or full-serviced sites. The adjacent townsite offers many recreational activities, services and attractions including an 18-hole golf course, lawn bowling, tennis, miniature golf, riding stables, swimming, fishing, boating, picnic shelters, baseball diamonds and marinas. Services include restaurants, gift shop, laundromat, grocery store, doctor’s office, deli and bakery.
Make sure your visit coincides with one of the summer’s special events. Introduce your kids to fishing during Family Fishing Weekend, held the second weekend in June. The third weekend in July boasts Canada’s Parks Day. August long weekend brings the annual flea market.
More information on Falcon Lake Beach Campground and Whiteshell Provincial Park is available on request from the park office.
