Newsletter

27th July, 2016 Term 3, Week 1

Dear Parents,

I hope that all families managed to enjoy the break in routine that the

school holidays presented. Variable weather conditions would have

allowed some indoor and a little outdoor activities!

Term 3 is shaping up as a very busy time. We welcome back

Mrs Barbara Ahern following her last term at St Patrick’s and

Ms Rosemarie Gentilcore who will share the teaching of Year 4/5BF

with Mr Brigden for Terms 3 and 4.

This Sunday three of our students, Montana Dunbar, Sebastian Benedetti

and Jayden Bubner (with Nicole Fox named as emergency), are

participating in Pedal Prix competition at Victoria Park Race Course.

Our students are scheduled to race in two shifts (11:30am—12:15pm and

then 2:30pm—3:15pm). Our combined team with students from St

Joseph’s School, Ottoway, Our Lady of the Visitation, Our Lady of

Mount Carmel and Whitefriars will be keenly racing around the race

track. Any family is very welcome to come and watch the race.

“The Red Carpet” is being rolled out next Friday, 5th August at

Titanium Stadium. The children are very excited and much energy and

talent have been contributed to this extravaganza of dance and music!

Some children came in during the holidays for extra practice and a

number of parents and staff spent time painting backdrops and working

on costumes. A three page note is being sent home today with much

information about both the rehearsal and the performance next week and

a permission note for children to attend both events is included. Please

read all of this carefully so that you are aware of all that is happening.

Tickets are available at the office for purchase and an order form is

attached to this newsletter.

On August 8th we will celebrate the Feast of Mary MacKillop with a

whole school liturgy at 12pm in the Hall. Parents and grandparents are

very welcome to gather with us in this Sesqui-centenary Year as we

celebrate 150 years since the beginning of the Sisters of St Joseph.

Then on Monday 15th August the Feast of our Lady’s Assumption will

be celebrated with Mass at 12pm in the Hall. Parents, grandparents,

parishioners and others are welcome to attend.

Since last year many children have been preparing to celebrate the

Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion. Confirmation

will take place on Saturday 13th August at both 10am and 2pm in

“See what our good God has done for us.”

namely 20 and 21st August and 27th and 28th August. A Confirmation Workshop for all children across our Parish

will be held on August 10th. We pray for these children and their families as they prepare to celebrate these

significant occasions in their faith life.

Today some of our students are participating in a SAPSASA Basketball Carnival, competing against students

from other primary schools.

On September 20th children who have participated in the Children’s University will graduate in a special

ceremony which is to be held at the Adelaide University. All children are asked to bring their Passports to the
