DESCRIPTION

The White Horses charity is a truly unique project that benefits those who are involved in our work as well as those who benefit from the work we do.1800km across France, no motor vehicles all in aide of disabled charities in England and France.This presentation is the continuation of part one and explains the charities projects for 2012.

SLL 2012… THE CARAVAN OF HOPE

A strikingly ecological project 8 Camargue horses (of which 2 Camargues harnessed in pair and 6 ridden by the

young disadvantaged French & British young people) + 2 Franc Comtois draft horses harnessed in pair (selection and training of these 2 horses by a 13 times Carriage Driving Champion of France)

12 Riders: 6 young people (3 French and 3 British)for the first 3 months – 6 others for the following 3 months)- with the SLL team alongside

Dozens of young and disabled adults in the beneficiary centres will get pleasure and physical and physiological benefit from our horses over many years (at least 15)

SLL 2012: Driving Horses – A first for us

Exclusive and unique : a journey of some1800 kms with horse driven carriages

New: an ecological dimension in all areas of the trip

3 years of preparation A durable donation of at least 15

years of use : 10 horses prepared for their future life to help dozens of disabled people

6 months ‘on the road’ 85 stop overs

Relational…Social & Citizenship values Learn the rules of living in a group Learn about each other’s cultures - differences and

similarities between young people – become aware of the difficulties disabled people face

Technique Become disciplined and focused with regard to the end

purpose of the journey Become responsible by looking after and attending to the

needs of the horses as well as horsemanship skills

Environmental Learn to respect nature at all times during the journey Learn eco-responsible actions Learn to eat local and seasonal food

Protection of the environment and eco-responsible challenges Sensitize the young people to protection of nature and the countryside Open their eyes to the possibility of living and evolving in a minimum comfort

zone Reduction or recycling of waste products A new edition: using 2 horse-driven carriages Transport of material in the two carriages Prioritizing renewable energy wherever possible Local and seasonal food

An optimal budget through the use of carriages

Use of carriages: no fuel consumption , so savings

Years of usability with less onerous insurance than conventional transport

The carriages cover SLL’s needs – solidly built and as light as possible

Transport for 5 people –camping material – personal belongings – horse equipment – cooking equipment

2 carriages + harnesses: £19,000 to £20,000

8 Camargue horses: £35,000

2 Franc-Comtois horses: £4,500
