Are Bible Classes A Waste of Time?
In the minds of some people Bible classes are not important. They may even consider them just a “waste of time.” What should our attitude be toward them?
Why do we have Bible classes on Sunday and Wednesday? Do we have classes just be-cause others have them? Do we have classes just so we can say that we are at least do-ing something?
Until we come to learn the significance of them, we will not appreciate them as we should if we appreciate the, then and only then will attitudes and attendance change for the better
PROMOTE the work of the church. The Bible classes are one avenue through which the
Word of God can be taught. We certainly want to take advantage of every opportunity
to teach and study from the Bible (2 Tim. 2:15, Psalms 1:1-3).
PROVIDE a way for the elders “to feed” the flock. The apostle Paul in speaking to the
Ephesian elders said, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the
which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers. To feed the church of God, which He
hath purchased with His own blood.” (Acts 20:28) Peter declared to the elders, “Feed
the flock of God which is among you” (1 Peter 5:2). Through our Bible classes we are
helping the elders carry out their work.
PRODUCE tomorrow’s elders, deacons, preachers, and teachers. We want to encourage
our young people to grow up being servants of God. In our bible classes, we are training
potentials soldier’s in the Lords’ army. The Bible classes are helping to train the young in
the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6).
PREVENT unfaithfulness in the church. We all need encouragement in living the Christian
life. Through our Bible classes we can encourage and edify one another (Hebrews 3:13;
10: 24,25).
PREPARE one for eternity. Who is it that has doubts about the importance of studying
the Bible? We must come to understand and know God’s Will (John 8:32; I Timothy 2:4).
The time we spend in studying the Bible in our classes is helping us to be prepared for
eternity to come.
Are Bible Classes a waste of time? I think not!!!

Bible Classes Are Significant Because….
A CHILD LIKE FAITH
An unbelieving teacher told her class there were no real miracles in the Bible. She said, “Take, for instance, the crossing of the Red Sea. We know this body of water was only about six inches deep.”
A boy toward the back of the room shouted, “praise God for that miracle.”
The irritated teacher asked, “What miracle?”
“God drowned the whole Egyptian army in just six inches of wa-ter? Said the boy.
“That had to be a miracle.”

In sympathy
Thank you
Sympathy to the family of Pam Jones, she was Barbara Travis’ s
cousin. Her funeral is Thursday, May 30 at Taylor’s Funeral Home
at 12 noon with visitation beginning at 9:00.
Thank you for remembering World Bible School in a very gen-erous way of $4,386. White Bluff has such a long and produc-tive history with WBS, going back even before the day when you were a regional supply center. We appreciate greatly your continuing partnership. God bless you! John Reese
From the Elders:
Thanks to the congregation for bringing in your aluminum cans for the Camp Scholarship Fund. Also, thanks goes to those who helped in redeeming the cans: Doug Couch, Greg Morris, Daniel Cauthen, Brenda Driver, Will Goad, Butch Lee, Buddy Driver and to Jeff Resha for the use of his trailer. We had a total of 740 lbs of aluminum at the price of .31 cents per lb. for a total of $229.40. We have been good stewards recycling and redeeming so that more children can attend Bible Camp.
What’d you eat Sunday?
What’d you eat Sunday? I ate what I eat every week and with
the same folks I eat with every week. Man, it’s my favorite meal
at my favorite place! I love telling people about it. Some think I
ought to change it up some, not eat this same meal every week.
Others make fun of it and mock it as a Chiclet. How much nour-
ishment can that little break of bread or square give?
I’ve been eating this meal every Sunday for nearly 50 years with
other “Acts 20 churches.” Let me tell you. It feeds me. I’m
healthier spiritually, emotionally and in every good way because
of that meal. It is the communion that reminds me of how
much I am worth (1 Peter 1:18-19). It reminds me that I am
loved by one who powerful enough to protect, wealthy enough
to sustain me, righteous enough to defend me with integrity,
and honest enough that I can always trust Him. This meal con-
nects me to the power of Christ and thereby the assurance of
my salvation. It is the food that keeps me healthy until I get to
heaven It is also the meal that I share will ALL others who love
Him. It is the table that connects me when Satan would divide
me.
Oh, this meal is so vital. This is neither passing fad nor empty
calories, it is not junk food, It keep me going. It gives me
strength. It nourishes my soul. It reminds me of why I do what I
do. If I’m ever tempted to give up, I need to deeply meditate on
this meal and it’s meaning. It will keep you from quitting!
What’d you eat Sunday?

Your help is needed
“It Can Be Done”
I am put off by people who say “it can’t be done.” I know
that occasionally I have exhibited such negative thinking, but gener-
ally I am optimistic and try to think positively about everything.
Whenever you say to yourself, “it can’t be done,” then all efforts
toward the project can only be half-hearted. We don’t give any-
thing our best effort unless we think “It can be done.”
I have been helped in thing positively by three passage of Scripture
that reveal God’s will on the subject. “I can do all things through
Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 3:14).
“The things impossible with men are possible with God” (Lk 18:27).
“Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all
that we ask or think, according to the power that works within
us” (Ephesians 3:20).
Maybe it’s time that we got our thinking right. Where
there is a will, there is a way… where there is a problem, there is a
solution. But even more, whenever we bring God into the picture,
there is always possibility.
Let’s think positive ...and move forward!
