elcome to the 23rd annual Gay Ski Week in Whistler. We have so much that we are excited for this year. Sunil Sinha

of Big Roger Events has joined the GayWhistler team as our COO - Executive Producer, Director of Entertainment. With his arrival we have a fresh new name and branding for the festival. We are now the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival. You can follow

us @gaywhistler or #WhistlerPride on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Be sure to share your experiences on how you celebrate diversity on and off the snow!

We are thrilled to welcome three-time Grammy and Emmy nominated artist MARGARET CHO along with special guest KATE WILLETT to the Night of Comedy presented by the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the Province of British Columbia on Wednesday, January 28th. New this year is the introduction to the Whistler Pride Film Festival presented by OUTtv and GayDirect featuring Bollywood Beats on Monday, January 26th and Tennessee Queer along with Vancouver Queer actor MIKE AZEVEDO making his directing debut with his short film “Boy Meets Boy” on Tuesday, January 27th.

Whistler Pride is proud to be able to bring back the community dinner, BETTER TOGETHER - the Whistler Pride Banquet featuring DARCY MICHAEL and JOAN-E. Special guest performances by our beloved Whistler Pride Ski/Snowboard Guides as they perform their Chairlift Review; Scream - by Rainbow Refugee; and a special welcome from the Mayor of Whistler.

Whistler Pride has brought in some incredible talent from around the world for the late night party events including DJ ABEL (Miami), the FREEMASONS (UK), DJ SETH COOPER (Chicago), DJ WAYNE G (UK), DJ BRET LAW (Seattle), and DJ BLACKLOW (LA). We love showcasing some of our local Vancouver artists including: DJ DEL STAMP, NICK BERTOSSI, DJ SALIM, DJ QUEST, DJ LISA DE LUX, DJ KASHA KENNEDY, and DJ SMOOTHIE.

2015 marks the 5th annual Whistler Pride Ski Out and March on Friday, January 30th. The very first march took place at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games when we hosted the first Pride House. It was a pavilion that stood up at the Olympics to defend our right to play in a safe and inclusive environment. The pavilion has gone on to inspire millions around the world and just last month the IOC adopted changes to Principle 6 to explicitly include sexual orientation in their nondiscrimination policy. So join us this year as we celebrate this victory while we continue to make our communities around the world safer and more inclusive for everyone.

We hope you are able to get out and enjoy some of the award-winning facilities here in Whistler. Whistler Blackcomb was named the #1 Resort in North America by Ski Magazine. New on the mountain are the new Whistler Village gondola, and the new RFID scanning gates all designed to get you up on the hill faster so you can shred more of the 8,171 acres of pure skiing bliss!

Thank you for being part of the magic of the 23rd annual Whistler Pride and Ski Festival. We really appreciate you choosing to vacation with us and celebrate diversity both on and off the slopes! We trust you will make many incredible memories.

Sunil Sinha Executive Producer, Entertainment Director

s Premier of the Province of British Columbia, I am pleased to welcome everyone to the 23rd Annual Whistler Pride and Ski Festival.

British Columbia is fortunate to have such a diverse and welcoming atmosphere, where events like the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival can take place to help foster inclusion and raise awareness for all members of our community. British Columbians are proud people who embrace opportunities such as this to come together in celebration.

I would like to extend my thanks to all those who, once again, made this year’s festival possible. I commend everyone for their time and effort to bring it all together.

Please accept my best wishes for another successful Whistler Pride and Ski Festival, filled with laughter, excitement and celebration.Sincerely,

Christy ClarkPremier

G reetings from the Mayor. On behalf of the Resort Municipality of Whistler, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone who is

here from around the world for the 23rd annual Whistler Pride and Ski Festival.

From the Night of Comedy with Margaret Cho and Selene Luna, to the Whistler Pride Banquet with Darcy Michael and Joan-E, the festival brings an exciting lineup to Whistler from January 24 to 31.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler is pleased to support the success of the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival though tourism funding from the Province of British Columbia. Whistler’s Council has designated the week of January 24 to February 1 Pride Week: A Celebration of Diversity and Inclusivity. Our community works to ensure Whistler is an inclusive place to live and visit year-round.

We hope you enjoy the festival and have time to experience much of what Whistler has to offer-from the great variety of ski terrain and cross-country trails, to skating and sliding sports, as well as the variety of spas, restaurants, pubs, shops and entertainment around the Village.

Whistler was the proud Host Mountain Resort for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and I encourage you to have your own Olympic experience — cross-country ski at Whistler Olympic Park, watch or try sliding sports at the Whistler Sliding Centre, or go ice skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza in the heart of Whistler Village.

Have a wonderful visit in Whistler.Regards,

Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden Resort Municipality of Whistler

Q Are there any additional perks to my 7 day, Mid Week or Weekend Pass?A Yes, not only did you save some on the bundle pass, you have the flexibility of doing as

much or as little as you want. It’s sort of like a Season Pass. You can also flash your pass to our retail partners and save or get a special gift! 15% off food at the GLC and Merlins

Q Are there gay ski/snowboard guides for all levels of skiers/riders?A Yes, we have ski guides available every day for all levels of skiers and riders so come up and

ski/ride with your level group. There are also lesbian led groups!

Q Are tickets transferable or refundable?A Regrettably No.

Q My partner and I are looking to get married. Can we do this while at Whistler Pride?A Yes, we have several options available for you; just contact us at guest services.

Q What are our options to get back to Vancouver?A We have several options for you, visit our website under “Plan Your Trip” or see us at guest

services.

Q Is it too late to volunteer?A No, come on down to the guest services suite and talk with our Volunteer Manager Karen

or one of our volunteer leads.

Q What can I do if I do not ski or snowboard? Will I be bored?A There are hundreds of things for you to do and you will not be bored! Here are a couple

examples: Sight See on Whistler and Blackcomb – Ride the Whistler Village Gondola and then take the Peak 2 Peak Gondola for a bird’s eye view of these massive mountains, take in one of the culinary or wellness seminars, go dog sledding or fly through the forest like a Jedi Knight or Indiana Jones with SuperFly Ziplines or luxuriate in one of the spas. Stop by our guest services desk for more ideas and suggestions!

Q When is Whistler Pride 2016?A January 23-30, 2016 The host hotel, Aava Whistler, has a fantastic rate if you book by June

30th, 2015. $129*/person/night for a 7 nights and full week men’s pass (based on double occupancy). Ask for details.

Q Why should we book through your official booking channel?A This is one of the only tools we have available to give accurate numbers to our resort

partners in the success of the festival and ensure the continued value we are able to give to you, the consumer. The alternative to this is diminished support as it is unclear who is actually staying for the festival which may result in higher future costs and ties our hands as organizers what we can ask for in the future. There is the lowest price guarantee so you can be assured you are getting the best rate available.

Q Why does Whistler Pride limit capacity and venue hours?A British Columbia has some of the most strict liquor laws in North America. Every year

Whistler Pride has to apply and negotiate with the various government bodies which set limits to capacity, venue usage, hours of operation and type of entertainment.

Q Why are the liquor prices so expensive?A The resort and the government of British Columbia sets a minimum price drinks are

allowed to be sold at. The venues keep 100% of all bar sales. Whistler Pride’s source of revenue is through ticket sales and sponsorship only.

Q Why do we have to pay to go to the Apres Ski?A Admission for the Apres Ski events helps to pay for the complimentary ski/snowboard

program as well as fund some of the other festival costs. The conference centre is still currently the only venue large enough to accommodate our group. The Apres ski also provides an opportunity for some of our community members to become involved with the festival to raise awareness about their organization while raising funds.

Starting from rate, all rates quoted in Canadian Dollars, subject to applicable taxes, insurance and/or other fees maybe additional, space is limited, subject to general availability at time of reservation. Some restrictions may apply.

All skiers/riders of all abilities are invited to join this complimentary service and be guided safely around the mountains. It is a great way to meet new people! Please allow at least 45 minutes from the village to the designated meeting spot.

Uploading tip: All of Whistler Blackcomb’s RFID scanners will be located on your left hand side as you approach the lift. It is important that you keep your Access Card on the left hand side of your body. A pocket on your jacket is ideal given the height of the scanner. Keep your Access Card away from your cell phone or any aluminum, as it may interfere with the RFID chip.
