Class & Group Descriptions

Anger Management This class is based on the Anger Management workbook from the Sub-stance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA). This approach employs

relaxation, cognitive and communication skills as ways to choose a more beneficial way of interacting with others. This class qualifies for 10 hours towards a CPSS certification.

Ask it Basket A relaxed group designed to get to know others and break the ice through a series of questions.

Aspie Support Group The “Aspie” Support Group is for people with Asperger’s, their friends, family and support-ers. In this group the participants provide each other with resources, information, networking opportunities and emo-tional support.

A Better Day This weekly closed meeting for people living with schizophrenia. It will be an opportunity to learn from other’s experiences, share coping strategies, and offer each other encouragement and support.

Body, Mind, and Spirit The innate wisdom, power and abilities that we ALL carry with us will be demystified in this most revelatory classroom experience. Learn about discovery all about your authentic self, achieving balance in your life, and true calling through powerful techniques and self-knowledge. Everything from harnessing energy through crystals, oils and meditation; to setting boundaries, goals and being of maximum service to yourself and others.

Chocolate Milk & Conversation Sometimes it’s nice to enjoy chocolate milk and chat with new people. This class is all about making connections with like-minded people and experiencing the simple pleasures of life.

Community Connection Series In this dynamic series, you will tap into your purpose; explore the vast resources of our community, and create a vision for your future in the areas of employment, education and volunteerism.

Cooking Class The cooking class is run by Chia and Reggie on alternative weeks. The cooking class is an oppor-tunity for people to learn how to make good meals that are inexpensive and tasty. The instructor makes the meal in the class (a different one each week), walking people through each step. Participants are given the menu and shop-ping list, and, of course, the chance to eat samples to see how they like it.

DBSA Depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating illnesses, but Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance sup-port groups can help you connect with others who have been there as well.

Destination Success Where are you going? Destination Success may be the course for you! This four-part series takes us on a trip that begins at your “dream” and leads you through the creation of your new “reality”. A fun, inter-active course that helps you build your personal road map to success!

Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR) This Twelve Step meeting is for men and women who experience addictions and mental health issues who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may solve their

Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA) A 12 step support group for people who experience both addictions and men-tal health challenges.

Financial Wellness This series, presented by Sharon View Federal Credit Union, will help you understand debt, credit cards, credit, as well as the steps required to reach financial freedom.

Finding Ourselves through Art This class meets you where you are. Whether you’re beginning your adventure in art or an established artist, this class is for you.

Get Moving Discover the most effective path to physical wellness, while becoming empowered, strong and your most vibrant self! Through various exercise modalities that suit your individual needs, to exciting topics to help you feel better immediately. Such as using a treadmill and other manageable cardio workouts, yoga, free weights, medita-tion, attention to healthy eating – AFFORDABLY, and more fun ways to approach personal wellness.

His and Her Warfare The class will help people go deeper in self-discovery and establish foundational principles. Individuals will walk away with His and Her Perspective by uncovering the trauma that surround mental warfare, relationship longevity and financial security for the family.

Improv This class uses movement and voice based drills, scene work, and group exercises to dive into improvisa-tion. The goal of this class is to make participants more confident in their everyday situations, and HAVE FUN!

Inner Strength Where do you get the strength to go on when the world seems to be against you? Wouldn’t you like to know how to tap into those areas, and become a stronger, more well-rounded warrior? This class helps you devel-op those skills that we can only pull from inside ourselves. Come see what it’s all about!

LGBT Group This is a support group for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender community members. We provide an accepting space to discuss difficulties, receive encouragement and increase a support network. This group is also open to allies, family, supports and friends.

Let’s Talk About Recovery Ultimately, because recovery is a personal and unique process, everyone with a psychi-atric illness develops his or her own definition of recovery. However, certain concepts or factors are common to recovery and this course with discuss the 10 Fundamental Components of Recovery and how to apply them to an individual’s life.

Let’s Stay Together This class is designed to cultivate skills to create healthy boundaries for intimate, family and friend relationships. We discuss ways to develop closeness with others. We also evaluate the effects of substance use and trauma from previous relationships and how to overcome the need to do things the way we have always done them.

Men’s Group The Men’s group is comprised of Men in recovery who come together to bring up issues important to them and interact with each other in a group setting.

Mindful Living Through the examination of mindful theories, practical applications and self study we will get to the root of any suffering, stress or anxiety that may be causing you unnecessary pain in this life. This class is designed to be interactive. Come as you are and expect to watch your thoughts and attitude shift from the negative towards the positive as we work to manifest your highest and best self! Mindful living is not something you learn once, it's an on going process, a way of existing in the world! Join us as we come together to learn how to live by example & to BE the change in the world we want to see.

Passion for Your Purpose This class is designed to help individuals understand the importance of their existence and ignite the desire to diligently seek and find their natural talents and gifts .

Seeking Safety Seeking Safety is an education created for people experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and substance abuse issues that is open to everyone. This class promotes wellness and can help anyone get through diffi-cult days. This is a ten-module course using a nationally recognized curriculum. The goal of this class is to assist peo-ple to get into action and maintain a safe environment for the body, mind and spirit. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate verifying 10 hours of participation that qualify towards a CPSS certification.

Tuesday’s Special Every Tuesday is a different adventure in recovery. We have everything from how “How Big is Your But?” to Conflict Resolution. Come for the fun stay for info.

Visioning Your Recovery & Wellness To get the clarity to move forward in your journey of recovery and well-ness, it helps to use a vision board -- a collage of motivational images and powerful words drawn or clipped from magazines – to help you get clear on what you need and want for your life to benefit you.

Wellness With Wells This class explores the building of sustained health and wellness through recovery strategies that connect to the eight dimensions of our wellness.

Women’s Group The Women’s Group is comprised of women in recovery who come together to bring up issues important to them and interact with each other in a group setting.

Writing for Wellness Experience and learn how writing can be a great outlet for creative expression and reflection on your addiction and/or mental health. Shame, grief, reasons to celebrate life and coping skills will be explored. Journal prompts, or different writing styles are used with the opportunity to share your writing with the class if you wish.
