Where I'm Likely to Find It - Notes:

This piece takes its title from a short story with the same name by Haruki Murakami. The story is about searchingfor something seemingly impossible to find, and not knowing even where to start. This piece for me is about all thefeelings which come with searching- aspiration, resignation, patience, determination, waiting. My music sometimesgives me the feeling that I am trying to uncover something lost, without even knowing where I'm likely to find it.

Instructions for Performance:s.t. - sul tastop.s.t. - poco sul tastop.o. - ordinary positionc.l.t. - col legno trattoric. - ricochet

In the first movement, natural harmonics are written with the open string shown; in the third movement, only the fingered pitch and string number are given. These are meant to be played the same way.

Throughout the piece, the violin uses scordatura—the G-string is tuned down to F#. The score is written atthe sounding pitch.
