Bodies of Water A Body of Water is any place where a lot

of water can be found. Some examples are: Oceans, Rivers,

Lakes, and Ponds.

OCEANS Oceans are large bodies of saltwater. There are many fish, seals, and even big

animals like whales!

Rivers Rivers are bodies of FRESHWATER.

Freshwater can be used by humans to drink and to water the plants. Animals need freshwater to live too.

Ponds and Lakes Ponds and Lakes hold freshwater too.

Water from rain flowing down from the mountains collect this water in these bodies of water. Fish may live here.

Uses of Water. We can use water in many ways!

Uses of Water Water is used to keep us clean.

Potable water is important for people.

Every big city has a company that cleans the water before we get it in our houses. This clean water is called Potable Water.

However, we still need to boil the water before we can drink it.

Incorrect uses of Water

Freshwater is a valuable resource we should never waste or use incorrectly.

Some incorrect uses of water include:1. When you brush your teeth and leave the

water faucet open.2. When you take long showers. (10 minutes

is enough)3. When you water the plants in a sunny day.

Saving water Some tips that will help you save water

in your house include:1. Watch for every place where there

could be a leak, so a person who knows can fix it.

Saving Water 2. Close all the water faucets in your

house. 3. Wash the car with a water bucket

instead of a hose 4. Hear if a toilet is running so it can be

fixed.
