THINKING POINSETTIAS? When you think of poinsettias, you probably think of the Christmas holiday season. They can evoke fond memories of friends and family get to-gethers, Christmas decorations and good food. They have been a mainstay in our holiday decoration for over 100 years. Did you know – • That there are more than 100 varieties of poinsettias?

They come in reds, pink, white, gold and multi-colors. The most popular is still red.

• The flowers on a poinsettia are actually small and yel-low. What are usually called “flowers” are actually modified leaves called “bracts”.

• Instead of tossing your poinsettia after the holiday, you can continue to grow it year-round. Many times, the color on the bracts will last well into summer. Many people continue to grow their plant for years, allowing it to grow up to 12 ft. tall!

• The poinsettia is the official birthday flower of Decem-ber

• Poinsettias traditionally symbolize celebration, success, reassurance and good cheer

To care for your poinsettia, follow these simple steps: • Keep your poinsettia warm. It is, after all, a tropical

plant, native to Mexico • Put it into a room with sufficient natural light but where

the sun won’t shine directly on it. • Keep it away from both warm and cold drafts. • Water thoroughly when the soil surface is dry. Do not

let it sit in water!

We have 28 varieties of Flower Bin Grown poinsettias in all different colors to help you with your decorating and gift giving this holiday season. Happy Holidays!
