INTERNATIONAL IMPORTS AND EXPORTS
EXPORTS • All invoices that accompany freight must be a Tax Invoice (Proforma invoices are no longer accepted) • The original TAX Invoice must state the value for customs purposes for every non-document shipment • Shipments with a value of R48 000 or more must be pre-cleared by SARS before export • Full content descriptions must be given on invoice / face of waybill • Documents are sent on “ICD” service and only unbound documents, nothing else, can be sent on
this service. • Express Parcels, “ICP” should be less than 30kg a piece (for international carriage on express
mode of transport). Heavier pieces should move via airfreight. • Shipments over R190 in value will require TAX Invoice and Exporters Code • Certain African countries require pre-inspection of cargo before departure to avoid penalty clearance feesIMPORTS • For your imports, contact your Customer Services Agent and they will assist you. • A full contact detail at collection point is required to book the collection. • VAT and Duties are payable for clearance of non-document shipments with value.

From the fi rst export or import, your company is required to register with SARS.

SURCHARGESMostly, Globefl ight will ask you to accept quotes for extra-ordinary trips, or delivery times, where extra, unique resources are employed to ensure compliance with your requirements. AREAS IN SOUTH AFRICAGlobefl ight have split South Africa up into 4 zones, they are listed below in order of their escalating costs due to the growing distance or lack of volume to the area (small towns)
In-City: This is for shipments moving within the same city. Ie: Durban to Durban, Pretoria to Pretoria
Major: Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, East London, George, Johannesburg, Kimberley, Nelspruit, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria. (Larger cities with airports, Globefl ight have branches in all of these areas, Lowest delivery charges)
Regional: 40km plus, outside of the areas as listed above, will be charged as Regional Areas. (Smaller cities and towns, slightly longer transit times, slightly higher charges, many of these areas will be delivered through Globefl ight’s vehicles and our own regional delivery company, RWS)
Remote: There are a few towns in South Africa that are far away and seldom have couriers delivering there. These will attract an extra surcharge due to the distance and small volumes to these areas. Ask for a quote and a delivery time before you send.
DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS GOODSGlobefl ight do not want to move all kinds of Dangerous and Hazardous goods, this both internationally and locally. (The vast diff erences in industries we serve, would mean a massive variety in the dangerous cargo we would receive, which all needs special and diff erent handling. The express nature of our business does not allow for this cargo and the mix thereof.) If you are unsure of your commodity, call us and we can advise if this is safe for carriage.
We do not want to contaminate customer’s cargo with these commodities and cause a danger to ordinary packages.
INSURANCEGlobefl ight off er customers the option of using our insurance, this is through Eikos Insurance Company, who manage the vast majority of courier companies insurance. Globefl ight does not self- insure your goods, so it is important when sending items of value that you have your own insurance cover or that you request insurance per consignment. Ensure that your waybill is clearly marked to request insurance and to note the amount of cover required.
Eikos does not insure Second hand goods. Electronics and mechanical goods must be in original packaging.
