A School of Opportunities
Whether it be performing on stage in this year’s school production of ‘A High School Musical’ or running their heart out at the Interschool Cross Country, I’m very proud that our school and staff provide the children with such amazing opportunities. Will a child turn out to be the next Heath Ledger or Robert de Castella, who knows? But to have had the experience and tried their very best is certainly worth its weight in gold.
Speaking of the production, I would like to thank and congratulate Mr Donnelly and his team for all the hard work that has gone in before and during the production. They spent a significant amount of personal time getting the costumes, set and stage ready for the two nights. The backdrop looked stunning and the kids were so excited during the dress rehearsals.
Congratulations to the following students who received Merit Certificates at last week’s assembly:
PrePrimary - Alivia & Logan
Year 1 - Lauren, Indi, Ashton, Millie, Marsay, David & J-Rome.
Year 2 - Khyreen, Logan, Hadi, & Tahlia
Year 3 - Eriata & Micah.
Year 4 - Moses, Bianca, Ashleigh & Charlotte.
Year 5 - Mey, Isabella & Lawrence
Year 6 - Tahnee, Whetu, Riley, Tahlia, Blake & Chrystal.

MERIT RECIPIENTS TERM 3 - WEEK 1
Winter Sickness
Whilst we are striving to have children attend school on a regular basis, we do request that children are not sent to school when they are clearly sick. It does not take long for a bug to go around a classroom and our attendance will be significantly affected. We appreciate your support.
Test folders
Thank you to the 95%+ of families who have returned the test folders/portfolios sent home at the end of Term 2. If you think that you may have lost it over the holidays, can you please contact your child’s teacher to see about a replacement?

Kurlangas Aboriginal Playgroup Welcome to term 3! This term in playgroup, we are learning to recognise the colours yellow, red,
green and blue, and also triangle, square, circle and rectangle shapes.
Our activities will include colour collages, cellophane windows, easel painting, shape stencilling, colour
sorting, shape painting and sticker pictures.
For our babies, there will be tummy time (to strengthen their back and neck muscles), push and pull
toys, some wonderful books to look at and songs to sing.
Playgroup is FREE and held every Thursday at Banksia Grove Child and Parent Centre during term times
between 9.30-11.30am, for Aboriginal children up to 5yrs of age and their carers.
A morning tea of fresh fruit is provided for the children, and tea, coffee and biscuits for the adults. You
do not need to have a child attending this school to attend.
Hope to see you there!
Aboriginal Early Years team.
There have been an increasing number of phone calls from parents regarding
making alternative arrangements for pick up of their child/children .
We understand there can be unforeseen circumstances for this, but going forward
can we please ask you to discuss with your child/children that if you are not there
at pick up time to go straight to the front office.
We will only be passing on messages in extenuating circumstances.
Hi again everyone.
For those of you who missed the last school newsletter my name is Stephen Bevan and I am the newly appointed Principal of Banksia Grove East Primary School (planning name). I have now established an office at Joseph Banks Secondary College and have a school phone number 0436 626 571 which I can be contacted on.
Next week I would like to invite parents of students who will be attending the new school to a 'Meet and Greet' session at the Child & Parent Centre. This will be held on Wednesday 8th August at 3.00pm. Cindy has kindly offered to put on an afternoon tea so please drop in and say hello. I will also be attending the next school assembly on Friday 10th August.
If you have not enrolled your child for Kindergarten or Pre-primary it is not too late. Please contact Tapping Primary School to complete the enrolment process – phone 9404 6033 or email [email protected]
The school now has its own Facebook page where the latest information will be posted. We hope to see building work commence on the school site in the next couple of weeks. I will endeavour to post updated photos of the site so that you can see how the construction progress is going. The school will be built in two stages with the first stage being the Kindergarten/Pre Primary Annex scheduled for completion by the start of the 2019 school year. The second stage is scheduled for completion for the start of the 2020 school year and will include the remainder of the permanent buildings as well as the oval. It is going to be very exciting to watch this beautiful new school be constructed over the next 18 months.
